La plaza Ayacucho, está ubicada en la avenida Humboldt, a la orillita del río Manzanares, río muy caudaloso, con muchas corrientes que le dan su color característico turbio, de punta a punta encierra mucha historia de cada una de las generaciones que han pasado por ese lugar. Fue inaugurada el 28 de octubre de 1890, un poco de años, ya han pasado.

Posee una estatua de nuestro insigne y héroe Gran Mariscal de Ayacucho, Antonio José de Sucre, obra de un escultor italiano. Es bastante grande, espaciosa, tiene más de 2 hectáreas, disponible para que los ciudadanos que hacemos vida en el centro de la ciudad de Cumaná y los que vengan de visitas, puedan disfrutarla y pasar un rato agradable en familia, casi finalizando su recorrido queda el Museo Ayacucho, que próximamente les estaré hablando de él.

Es la plaza principal del municipio Sucre y de nuestra ciudad Cumaná, se llevan a cabo los eventos de fechas patrias y sesiones solemne de la gobernación del estado Sucre, alcaldía y otras instituciones, en esta temporada si provoca visitarla, la han puesto bonitas, con el motivo de navidad, pero meses anteriores estaba muy descuidada, a parte habían vendedores ambulantes en sus caminerías, que le daban aspecto no acorde a la plaza principal de una ciudad.

Hay bastante vegetación, es palpable los enormes árboles que le dan sombra, hay banquillos en buen estado donde la gente pasa un rato y conversa, también hay personas que juegan domino en ellos; cuenta con una fuente que no está operativa, actualmente tiene una decoración muy bonita de Feliz Navidad, un parque que finaliza el recorrido de plaza, que es muy concurrido para el disfrute de los más pequeños.

Esta plaza tiene un gran significado para nosotros los sucrenses, representa un orgullo, ya que lleva el nombre Ayacucho, para honrar la Batalla de Ayacucho, llevada a cabo en el país de Perú, gracias a nuestro Gran Mariscal Sucre, por su valentía y estrategia militar, obtuvo la gloria en esa batalla.

La decoración del parte con motivo de la navidad está bastante colorida y brillante, de verdad que provoca ir a tomarse fotos para el recuerdo.
