Yeah, the poms sure know how to make a point. I've been to the Tower of London and down in the torture chambers they have a fairly extensive array of implements and apparatus with accompanying explanations...Creative to say the least. But then torture has always been something humans have excelled at. I've read a lot about the subject and some is pretty difficult to imagine (impalement for instance) and yet it happened. Human's are such creative animals.
Shot from a canon huh? I can think of better ways to go, like in my sleep surrounded by family. You know, I've often wondered how I would cope if I was captured and tortured for information. There's no way to know the answer without having it happen though I think.

Poms? I'm not familiar with this term. I suspect that humans have been using torture longer than they've had a word for it. I think that creativity is one of both our best and worst features as a species.
It definitely seems a bit much. I've always leaned towards the flash and bang and mushroom cloud method of shuffling off this mortal coil, waiting and dragging it out seems like the worst to me, rather go out with a nice bang (radioactivity not required).
Pom or poms (plural) is a slang word here for the English. I don't really know where it came from but see below. It is widely used here.
Out with a bang sounds quite painless.
Ah, gotcha. Lol, the first thing I thought of with poms was the pompom antiaircraft guns of WW2 vintage.
