Cronot or Donut?

in Photography4 days ago

Hello Hello Hivians, fellow Hive photographers, Friendlymoose Photo Contest and #FPC enthusiasts!

Chocolate Food and Fun, what a combination, well that is what we have in store today!

This week's theme in the Friendlymoose Photo Contest from @friendlymoose is "SWEETNESS" and you can check the contest post here.

For my entry, I've chosen a shot which has me eaten something I never even fluffing knew existed!

Cronut or Donut/Doughnut?

Do you know what a Cronut is and can you tell which one is which?

Not content with wondering if it is Doughnut the correct spelling in the UK or Donut the American spelling we now have a fluffing Cronut thrown into the mix...

I have to confess I fluffing loved this cronut!

A Cronut is a popular and trademarked pastry that is a hybrid between a croissant and a doughnut.

A cronut is a portmanteau (a blend of words) of "croissant" and "doughnut."

If you knew what a cronut was, did you know what portmanteau meant? I am sure some of you wordsmiths know it!

I am a huge fan of croissants and anything butter so it is no surprise that I loved this!

It is made from a laminated dough, which is similar to a croissant—meaning it has many buttery, flaky layers.

So there we have it, Cronut, Donut or even Doughnut, what's your preference?

That thing looks awesome! Now I want one! I don't think they make them anywhere around here though! lol

I did find out it was created and trademarked in 2013 by the French pastry chef Dominique Ansel at his bakery in New York City.

But if you see one, eat it lol! Seriously was so tasty!

Man... i just learned something too and it got me craving for a piece of it. Since it is trademarked, i'll probably going to make one myself. Not sure when but i'll get you an invite to come over and have breakfast with us. (not before next year, since the kitchen planning is quite full for the rest of this year already) :smirk:

Yeah it was fluffing delicious, and I know you are a fan of butter so you would love it! Oh next year lol you are a man in demand! Have a magical Sunday bro

Is that the one from Lidl? They are good

Hehe yes it is, I won one in the scratch card thing on the app, they really are good!

LOL thought you might have chosen a fried mars bar!!

lmao, you know I have yet to meet anyone who has eaten one!

My granddaughter had one when we were in Edinburgh a few years back, I had a nibble, not bad actually

A Mars bar has always been my favourite chocolate etc so quite surprising I have never had one. Maybe one day lol. Did she enjoy it?

She bloody loved it LOL, said it was the highlight of our visit

Hehe that is cool she loved it . Edinburgh now is just full of tourists, nothing like it was when I was a kid. Mind you no deep fried mars bars then.

I get that we were there in early jauary and it was packed even at that time of year

Hehehe, I always have two whenever I pass on the store selling it😛. It's all a donut to me😌😌
All pictures are nice😁

See you get two, that is how you are so sweet!

Although I'm not a fan of sweet things, I do love crunchy stuff!! I adore puff pastry. Here they make a 'milhojas' which is delightful and some empanadas filled with ricotta, almond, and honey. You've made me crave it! A hug wrapped in puff pastry.

I must admit I like the simple things, chocolate and fluffy croissant pastry was just perfect. Those empanadas do sound delightful but they are sweet, so we would have to share one I thing. I hope you got your craving! A pastry hug now

Cheers mate

I'm used to donut than doughnut, but I think the latter is the right one. Still donut is much easier to spell hahaha. And now cronut? That sounds masarap, just with the name and the appearance of the inside of it, i can already tell that it is some kind of croissant. Let me have some of that pwease 🤤✨

It didn't just sound masarap it was masarap! Seriously it was so good, and yes if you are good you can have some of it hehe. Well that is the difference between British English and American English, they spell things phonetically so they use Donut and we spell Doughnut as it is made from dough afterall, and the cronut yes is made from croissant dough and is ridiculously masarap!

That’s something new to me… I don’t care what it’s called, it just looks like it tastes amazing.

hehe it really was delicious, half croissant and half donut it was a winner!

I will go for a Cronut (l love exploring), and your description of buttered layers sounds good to me. 😍😋😋

Hehe your exploring will not disappoint you 😎

They look so tasty. I am sweet lovers, so at this moment I would like to eat them. Greetings, happy Sunday.🥰

@mamani, si tuvieras uno solo de estos para el postre, lo compartirías conmigo, ¿tu hija más querida? 🤣

No 🤣🤣🤣

Yo sé que ella me da un pedacito... 😂

Oh, yo también lo sé, ella es maravillosa.

They really were delicious! I wish I could have given you one! Have a wonderful Sunday 🍩

This looks insanely delicious! That chocolate glaze and those layers... absolutely irresistible! 😍🍩

Hehe the layers were awesome, and that pastry was so fluffing light and tasty!
