Thank you. :) The object separation happened mostly thru a happy sunbeam which just illuminated the way where they walked on and produced a nice contrast to the fore- and background. Your crop is clean but i somehow like the "cinematic" 16:9 look more. I would also miss a bit of the dark shades (overall contrast) which are removed thru the smaller crop.

This is a fantastic image! The woman walking the dog and the dog pop out of the image because you've picked exactly the right exposure values.
I wonder, though, if this crop would work better. There's a lot going on in the original.
