Maybe some people see this dessert dish is just "sweet potatoes". But the fact is it's not just about, it's about how we value what we get today for us to eat, to survive.

We know we can eat anything classier than this possible. But maybe it makes us less grateful even though we eat fancy food.

From a simple dish, later we will be grateful if we taste more food than that. Starting from simplicity we will understand about pleasure.

Sweet Potatoes Desserts or KOLAK in Indonesia

Indonesian people have a traditional dish made of coconut milk and palm sugar, called KOLAK. The filling can be bananas, sweet potatoes, or a mixture of the two.

This traditional food is not only served as a dessert. Can be eaten as breakfast or a body warm meal on a rainy day.

Some people who live in modern times today underestimate this Sweet potato dish because it tastes simple but does not mean it is not delicious.

In my kitchen, I always try to bring simple foods back into memory. Maybe sometimes the food is forgotten and I like to remind people about the delicious traditional food.

I will share the recipe for Sweet Potato Desserts (KOLAK UBI) with you. Let's get started.

BIG TIPS with a brilliant idea

If you're in the fall, it's a brilliant idea to replace the sweet potatoes with pumpkins. Use the same amount.

It will be a simple dish but warm your soul. I do not lie. You can try it yourself in your kitchen.

Yum! I love sweet potatoes although I don't use them often in sweet desserts. Thanks for the inspiration! And love the flavor of Pandan. Got 2 big plants and should use them more often for something else than tea. Have a beautiful day!

Oh I never try pandam tea. Isn't good?

Have a great day

It is so good. Love it in combination with a little lemongrass.

Can you give the link or the recipe? I will try for sure 😊

I take about 3 to 4 stalks of lemongrass, 2 to 3 large pandan leaves to make 1 liter of tea. Add raw sugar, honey or maple syrup if you like it sweeter. To make the tea cut the lemongrass and pandan leaves and boil them in 1 liter of water for about 5 minutes. Strain herbs and add the sugar if using. If you prefer iced tea, boil herbs in half of the water and add other half of cold water when ready, and serve over ice.
