¿Mi plan? Para hacer jarabe de saúco y deshidratar el resto para hacer más jarabe de saúco este invierno.
La única parte comestible y segura de la planta de la baya del saúco es la pulpa y la piel de la baya del saúco. Las semillas, tallos y hojas son venenosas. Cuando hago el jarabe de saúco, cocino las bayas, uso un colador de malla para escurrir el jugo y abono el resto. Luego endulzo con miel para hacer el almíbar. Es maravilloso para el apoyo respiratorio e inmunológico.
It’s elderberry season and my one elderberry plant is loaded with clusters of berries.
My plan? To make elderberry syrup and dehydrate the rest to make more elderberry syrup this winter.
The only edible and safe part of the elderberry plant is the pulp and skin of the elderberry. The seeds, stems and leaves are poisonous. When I make the elderberry syrup, I cook the berries down, use a mesh strainer to drain the juice and compost the rest. Then I sweeten with honey to make the syrup. It’s wonderful for respiratory and immune support.
