A Raptor's Reverie - Another Day and Night in the Life of Hypersensitivosaurus

IMG_7061.JPG

That morning, while drinking water at the lake - his daily confrontation with his lizard-like face in this natural mirror - he couldn't help but reflecting on the previous night:

Mosquitoes had been whispering annoying messages in his ear holes, in a language that he couldn't make sense of.

A powerful queen had beaten him in a long lasting battle, slowly pushing him in a corner, like a cat playing with a helpless mouse, just for the fun of it.

In a way he had enjoyed her power game. The time that kings reigned the world was history and he had made peace with that a long time ago. There was no equality of the sexes, balance could be reached in other ways. His one step moves were no match for her seven mile boots. She was simply too fast for him.

When there was no more way out, a wolf started howling.
Burning pancakes were raining from the sky,
a scratch on his left buttock made him smile.

Then, out of nowhere, a silent silhouette in the corner of his all-seeing eyes awoke him from his reverie.

His reptile brain kicked in, fight-or-flight modus was activated, and then he realized that it was no thing to be afraid of:

it was just his greatgrandfather from another mother: Old Krok

This philosoreptile, toothless and friendly with a touch of green, was one of his few friends around here. The beast hardly spoke but when it did its message always hit home.

Patiently Hypersensitivosaurus stared at this once impressive creature, waiting for its mouth to open up, anticipating a slice of advice that would change his day for the better.

He stared intensely at Old Krok, opening his senses as wide as he could and then it happened:

Old Krok let out a huge burp and submerged without even notifying his friend. The sound of diving swallows, harbingers of approaching rain, made li'l Hyper look up. Moments later, prickly drops started cooling his red skin and their bigger brothers chased away the mosquitoes that still tried to get through to him, tired of not being heard.

He wished she was here, to accompany him, the female dinosaur that he had met at this lake in the not too distant past. It would be so nice to have someone to talk and listen to.

Otter was always busy, Mild Mannered Wolf had beaten him a little too often in chess lately and seemed to be more interested in Hypersensitivosaurus' oatmeal pancakes than anything else, Mrs. Porcupine had done her job and was now focusing on treating others who needed her more and Mrs. Mosquito was mainly bugging him at night, not much of a friend, more like a parasite, an energy vampire. If even Old Krok couldn't make time for him, it was perhaps time to look for new friends.

That night in bed, he envisioned being in the company of she-that-could-not-be-named as he had been too shy to ask. He woke up from a wet dream in the middle of the night - the rain had intensified and had reached his bed. After half an hour of hard work he managed to deal with the leakage and drifted off in a deep sleep.

Tomorrow would be another day, another chance to make his dreams come true.

Lovely! I was thinking about raining pancakes from the sky.... Now that's a good reason to sit with one's mouth open looking at the clouds lol😂

It sure is haha! :<)

LoL she who could not be named as he had been too shy to ask, dag XD

Your characters going through an insanoperiod like we experience out here? :)

One thing's for sure, dream life and 'reality', fact and fiction seem to be changing places more and more.
