We felt a hankering for some curried crab, a popular Trinidadian dish that goes well with either dumplings, roti or just by itself. So we went out to the Caroni plains where the crab vendors are out in their numbers and got a few large crabs. The seller cleaned and cut the crabs up for us for free!

My mom then put the crabs to marinate in puree of her own seasonings grown in the yard and some salt and black pepper for around an hour. The crabs were then cooked as seen in the video with an array of indian spices and scotch bonnet pepper. The smells were amazing and my mouth could not help but water while filming and editing this vlog!

That's a lovely food vlog!!

Yes, curry crab is definitely something Caribbean.
I think Trinidad and Guyana use the most curry in different dishes due to the strong Indian influence, but most Caribbean countries have curry crab. Also roti, and doubles might not be fully mainstream, but are also slowly becoming more popular.

Thanks mate! True, I was amazed to see alot of Trini street foods abroad and getting some mentions in US TV shows 😳

Yes, your fellow countryman are working really hard to get Trinidad known around the Caribbean and in the US as well 😊
