Creating written content related to gastronomy (a niche in this community) can be somewhat confusing for certain users; for this reason, we consider it appropriate to offer some suggestions or guidelines so that they can serve as an orientation and/or guide, so that they can create quality written posts. It is worth mentioning that these suggestions were previously used by the Foodie moderators, to guide specific users, that is, it is a content very similar to what we used in comments that were previously made to some of the people who published in this niche; but we consider that, due to the length of this comment and its usefulness, there is nothing better than offering this information to all users, in such a way that they have it available. That said, let's see what are the suggestions and/or guidelines that we offer you (specifically to create written posts):

Suggestions and/or Guidelines for creating written content in the Foodies Bee Hive community

  • Make it a 100% original post. We do NOT accept plagiarism, paraphrasing or publication of old content, (even if the latter is your property), therefore, what you publish in the Foodies Bee Hive community cannot have been previously published.

  • Posts written in English or bilingual, but English is one of the languages used.

  • That it be a post of an acceptable size, at least 350 words (minimum) in English.

  • Make it a well-written post with good spelling.

  • That you use photographs made by you, properly identifying the equipment used for it, be it a camera or a smartphone. We do not accept third-party photos, even if they are free of copyright. We also do not accept foreign text, even if the source is cited.

  • In case of presenting a recipe, there is a basic structure, which obeys a logical order: 1) A suitable title that reflects the content of your post. 2) An introduction in which you will talk about the dish in a general way, for example, you can say whether or not it is a traditional recipe, how you learned it, on what occasions it is prepared, what you feel when preparing it, etc. ., this brings emotion to your recipe, and allows readers of other nationalities to learn more about your culture. 3)A list of ingredients expressed in measurement units that are understandable anywhere in the world, it is not good to use phrases such as: "a large potato", "a handful of sugar", "a splash of oil", "a little bit of salt", but indicate these quantities in litres, milliliters, kilos, grams, pounds, etc. 4) A step by step of the preparation process, well developed, which reflects with text and photographs what is being done at each stage of the recipe. 5) And a final result, in which you present the dish already finished and duly plated or already served.

  • It is important to see you from time to time preparing your recipes, it is a way of getting to know you, knowing who you are; so it is recommended that you be in some photographs while cooking.

  • Photographs must be clear. Natural light is recommended as it brings more beauty and sharpness to the photos. It is also important that the plane of the photo does not focus only on the content of the plate, pot, cup, bowl, container, etc., but that it is broader and shows part of the environment of the preparation, such as the plank or table where it is made, the kitchen, etc.

  • And you can orient yourself regarding the labels in our community, there are a series of suggestions. However, the use of the #foodie tag is essential

  • It is also important to form a sense of community, so it is nice that you comment and vote later on some posts of fellow Foodies. This creates a very positive and pleasant interaction.


In general terms, these would be the characteristics of a good post. Obviously there are other more specific elements that can be considered important. If you have any questions, do not hesitate to ask any of the Foodies moderators and/or curators. We hope this information is useful.

Crear contenido escrito relativo a la gastronomía (nicho de esta comunidad), puede resultar algo confuso para ciertos los usuarios; por tal razón, consideramos adecuado ofrecer algunas sugerencias o lineamientos para que puedan servir de orientación y/o guía, de manera tal que puedan crear posts escritos de calidad. Cabe mencionar, que estas sugerencias eran empleadas con anterioridad por los moderadores Foodie, para orientar a usuarios específicos, es decir, es un contenido muy similar al que empleábamos en comentarios que se le hacían anteriormente a algunas de las personas que publicaban en este nicho; pero consideramos, que por lo extenso de ese comentario y por la utilidad del mismo, nada mejor que ofrecer esta información a todos los usuarios, de forma tal que lo tengan a disposición. Dicho esto, veamos cuáles son las sugerencias y/o lineamientos que les ofrecemos (específicamente para crear posts escritos):

Sugerencias y/o Lineamientos para crear contenido escrito en la comunidad Foodies Bee Hive

  • Que sea un post 100% original. NO aceptamos plagios, parafraseo ni publicación de contenido viejo, (así sea este último de tu propiedad), por lo cual, lo que publiques en la comunidad Foodies Bee Hive, no puede haber sido publicado previamente.

  • Posts escritos en idioma Inglés o bilingüe, pero que el Inglés sea uno de los idiomas empleados.

  • Que sea un post de un tamaño aceptable, al menos 350 palabras (mínimo) en Inglés.

  • Que sea un post bien redactado y con buena ortografía.

  • Que utilices fotografías hechas por tí, identificado adecuadamente el equipo utilizado para ello, ya sea cámara fotográfica o teléfono inteligente. No aceptamos fotografías de terceros, así sean libres de derecho de autor. Tampoco aceptamos texto ajeno, aunque sea citada la fuente.

  • En caso de presentar una receta, existe una estructura básica, que obedece a un orden lógico: 1) Un título adecuado que refleje el contenido de tu post. 2) Una introducción en la cual hablarás del plato de forma general, por ejemplo, puede decir si es o no una receta tradicional, cómo lo aprendiste, en qué ocasiones se prepara, qué sientes al elaborarlo, etc., esto le aporta emotividad a tu receta, y permite que lectores de otras nacionalidades, conozcan más respecto a tu cultura. 3)Una lista de ingredientes expresada en unidades de medición que sean comprensibles en cualquier lugar del mundo, no es bueno utilizar frases como: "una papa grande", “un puñado de azúcar”, "un chorro de aceite", "un poquito de sal", sino señalar estas cantidades en litros, mililitros, kilos, gramos, libras, etc. 4) Un paso a paso del proceso de elaboración, bien desarrollado, el cual refleje con texto y fotografías lo que se está haciendo en cada etapa de la receta. 5) Y un resultado final, en el que presentes el plato ya finalizado y debidamente emplatado o ya servido.

  • Es importante verte de vez en cuando elaborando tus recetas, es una forma de conocerte, saber quién eres; por lo que se recomienda estés en algunas fotografías mientras cocinas.

  • Las fotografías deben ser nítidas. Se recomienda la luz natural, ya que aporta más belleza y nitidez a las fotos. También es importante que el plano de la foto no se centre sólo en el contenido del plato, la olla, taza, bol, recipiente, etc., sino que sea más amplio y muestre parte del entorno de la preparación, como es el tablón o mesa en donde se elabora, la cocina, etc.

  • Y puedes orientarte respecto a las etiquetas en nuestra comunidad, allí hay una serie de sugerencias. Sin embargo es indispensable el uso de la etiqueta #foodie

  • También es importante formar sentido de comunidad, por lo que es bonito que comentes y más adelante votes algunos posts de los compañeros Foodies. Esto crea una interacción muy positiva y agradable.

I just stumbled across this post, and it is very helpful as I was creating a food content to post on here.

I read this important information about Hive. I recently made a post about a recipe. I didn't follow all suggestions since I didn't read this upfront. I just learn is a good practice to read the rules in every community before posting. My next post will be in better sync with what's expected.
You also mentioned I couldn't post a video on that recipe since there's a written post about it. I have a doubt and a question about that. My written recipe didn't follow all the instructions due to my lack of knowledge in the community guidelines. In the other hand my video has more details, step by step preparation and also I appear in the video. Can I post it since the video has more of what you expect as a Food community?
While I'm still learning this huge network, I thank you for teaching me to get better.
