Coconut rice is a traditional dish that is prepared in Latin America and is especially consumed during the Easter season, it can be prepared creamy or left a little dry to accompany it with the sweet of your choice.

El arroz con coco es un plato tradicional que se prepara en Latinoamérica y sobre todo se consume en la temporada de Semana Santa, se puede preparar cremoso o se deja un poco seco para acompañarlo con el dulce de su preferencia.

Coconut rice is a dish that is made with few ingredients, it's tasty and easy to cook.

El arroz con coco es un plato que se elabora con pocos ingredientes, es sabroso y fácil de cocinar.


Ingredients / Ingredientes


2 medium coconuts
200 g white rice
½ block of brown sugar
100 g of cloves
100 g cinnamon sticks
2 cocos medianos
200 g de arroz blanco
½ papelón (panela)
100 g de clavos de olor (especia)
100 g de canela en rama


Method / Preparación

We begin the preparation of this tasty coconut rice in the following way, we pierce the coconut in the part where three black dots appear, we remove the water and reserve it for later use, we proceed to remove the shell and then wash and cut into small squares.

Comenzamos la preparación de este sabroso arroz con coco de la siguiente forma, perforamos el coco en la parte donde aparecen tres puntos negros, le sacamos el agua y reservamos para usarla más tarde, se procede a quitarle la cascara y luego se lava y cortamos en cuadros pequeños.

To facilitate the blending of the coconuts we add a little mineral water, then strain and reserve the water.

Para facilitar el licuado de los cocos le agregamos un poco de agua mineral, luego se cuela y se reserva el agua.

• In a pot we add the coconut water that we had reserved, the one that was left when we blended the coconuts, add the 400 g of water.

• We add the cloves, the cinnamon sticks and the brown sugar, we leave it on low heat until it is all dissolved.

• With the brown sugar dissolved, we add the rice and the blended coconut, until it reaches consistency.

• En una olla agregamos el agua de coco que teníamos reservada, la que quedó cuando licuamos los cocos y completamos los 400 g de agua.

• Le agregamos los clavos de olor, la canela en rama y el papelón (panela), la dejamos a fuego bajo hasta que se disuelva toda.

• Estando disuelto el papelón, le agregamos el arroz y el coco licuado, hasta que agarre consistencia.

Coconut rice is cooked according to people's preferences, some like it a little dry to accompany it with some kind of sweet and others like it creamy to sprinkle with ground cinnamon, in my case I left it a little dry to accompany it with dulce de plátano.

El arroz con coco, se cocina de acuerdo a la preferencia de las personas a unos les gusta un poco seco para acompañarlo con alguna clase de dulce y otros les gusta cremoso para espolvorear con canela molida, en mi caso lo deje un poco seco para acompañarlo con dulce de plátano.

Ehhh, interesting, the only version of this that i know is with glutinous rice ti make incredible rice cake. This version looks to good.
