Trying Out Terraza, an Italian Restaurant in Bohol

On the first week of January, my husband and I decided to stay in Tagbilaran City because it was a pain getting a stable internet connection in the province. Due to the Typhoon Odette (Rai), we lost electricity (it's still not restored today), we lost our internet connection, although it was restored a week after, it isn't stable so it was the best option at that time to stay in Tagbilaran City, my brother has a house there and we stayed for a week.

My husband found a co-working space, it's a cafe which turned their spot as a co-working space, they offer 50 PHP rate per hour but if one orders drinks or food, it will only be 30 PHP per hour. It was still expensive, my husband pays around Php 700 for the entire day stay because he has to eat lunch and then buy drinks and then pay for the number of hours of staying there.

On Thursday before that week ended, we decided to look for another place for lunch, we had been staying at the house for four days and we wanted a new ambiance. The city has no electricity but there were news that some establishments had their power restored already and so we decided to look for a cafe.

We drove for quite some time until we reached Remulador Street and found this Italian Restaurant. I am not so good at reviewing food cuisine of course, we went inside just to check out the place and try some Italian food. I am not well versed with this type of food so we only ordered pasta and pizza, and oh some drinks.

Thankfully, this restaurant has a good and spacious parking spot, we didn't have a hard time parking. Thank goodness as well, there were only a few people inside and upon getting in, I immediately asked the staff if they offer charging ports, they smilingly nodded and so we decided we had found the best area so we could charge our power banks, mobile phones, and laptops.

We settled in a table good for four, but we were eyeing for that spot near the glass wall, low lounge and it was nearer to the power wall outlets. The lady who was solely sitting there offered that we use her extension wire instead. We also brought along our extension wire just in case and it was indeed helpful so we could charge all things at once as it has a lot of ports.

And so I began checking out the place. From the furniture to the wall decors. Check out these images:

I believe the last Italian restaurant that we had been to was Matteo Guidicelli's in Cebu called Trattoria da Gianni and they offer great food. We ordered also pasta there, I forgot the rest but we had rice and some proteins too.

As I was taking photos, the staff already arranged our table with some table mats and utensils then gave my husband the menu.

My husband didn't want to deal with the numerous letters on the menu, so he handed it to me and said I should take care of the food orders. I did. I scanned through the menu, there were a lot of options. There were breakfast meals served with coffee, burgers and sandwiches, coffee, they offer blended and non-blended options, they also got some tea available as well as other healthy drinks. Of course the pasta, pizza, and the rest are there too. That's where I was looking.

We ordered healthy drinks such as frozen cucumber mint lemonade and Pineapple shake. Our companion ordered iced Americano too, she asked for a small size but we were all surprised as it was served in a tall glass, we both wondered how huge the medium and the large ones!

Except for the coffee, I got to taste both the watermelon and the frozen cucumber. The latter somehow had reminded me of Feria's Crazy Basil which I was crazy about. Whenever we would eat there back when I was still working, I would always look for this drink because it's a bomb.

Terraza has its own version but it didn't come with any basil, instead it comes with mint. Still a good choice though, I love the feeling of drinking a healthy juice or shake.

As for the coffee, I was laughing at our companion who came with us in the city so we could have someone to take care of the cooking. She told me how bitter the coffee was, turned out, she didn't put the sugar just yet as it was in a separate container.

After a few minutes, our pizza came. Our of the list, only a few were available this is because their suppliers are affected during the typhoon too and so we ended up with this pizza which I forgot the name, it has tomatoes and cheese. It's definitely a basic type of pizza but it costs more than PHP 400. I forgot the exact pricing though.

But I like it! The crust was also good, not too hard and not too chewy. We shared this huge pizza and were really looking forward to receive the pasta already but we were almost about to finish the pizza when the pasta arrived. We just shared the served pasta, one is carbonara with a pair of baked focaccia with olives.

And other one was like spaghetti except that it didn't come with meat. This was the cheapest on the menu that I could order. Terraza has an expensive pricing and I whispered to my husband about it and he said its okay, this doesn't happen all the time.

Both pastas were good! The taste is unlike what we have here in the country where the pasta has to be sweet. The pasta texture was also al dente, it was just enough to be eaten but not too soft that it is mashed when pressed together. Over all, I liked the way how the pasta was cooked. Although the taste wasn't sweet as how our pastas are cooked in the country, I appreciate that if this is an authentic way of cooking the Italian way, then I guess I can live with it for awhile.

After awhile, the woman who was at the low lounge decided to go home already so while I continue taking a photo of the place, we slowly transferred over to the lounge. This was better and easier. We stayed at the restaurant for a few more minutes and then we noticed the environment was starting to darkened.

Then the staffs turned on their evening lights.

The hanging lights were pretty and there were more and more people coming in. I told my husband it was time for us to go as there were more who were real customers coming in. We have to give way for them to pick their preferred seats.

Overall, it was a good restaurant but the pricing was a bit on the expensive side. However, we like how the staff were treating us, even if we were done eating, they allowed us to stay in the restaurant and charge our devices.
