Good Food with good people again!

Weekends are for spending with family and friends and making a good time out of it. Often I find like it is the perfect setting to have a couple of hours together with not that many external interruptions and just have the time for a good conversation.

But apart from that, I just really like good food! Blending the flavours together, trying out new textures. And maybe pair some wine with it on the go just because, hey...why not right?

This time on the experiment in the region, Novité a small restaurant located next to a canal for some outside moments. This place has not been situated in this location that long. They started out in the middle of covid time, and they started renovating the place like there was no tomorrow.

Bold move I would say for that period of time, but it turned out quite well actually. I have been here twice now over the last couple of weeks and I have to say the place was always filled enough to make it cozy and comfortable.

I mean this tuna tataki is like good to perfection if you ask me, and when you accompany it with some decent other stuff, this is a nice meal on itself already.

On the other dish you can see that it was big time aspasgus season here. Here in Holland we are all super fond of the white aspargus, but actually I prefer the green ones with a bit more bit in there. Adding some truffle saus to go together with the mashed potatoes, and I mean we are good right?

A while back we used to have a cooking club with some friends and we would make these kinds of dishes ourselves. Honestly to me that would a good thing to pop back in there every couple of weeks to start the weekend with.

The idea would totally be to make these kinds of dishes again.

This was a white fish, with picked radish on top of it. The mash was a sweet potato and carrot and the sauce was the absolute heaven made out of lemongrass. Big strong flavours on there, but it totally was the lemongrass that made the dish eventually.

This next dish was a chicken breast with caramalized carrot. I guess this would be one that I would never order myself, but when you let the chef decide, these are the things that end up on your plate and it was really a good one.

Maybe that is the reason that you should let somebody else decide what the menu will be for you. You get out of the stuff that you normally would choose and maybe you end up being a lot more surprised that you would expect even. A funny and cheecky way of learning new dishes.

I like those kinds of concepts!

An finally a desert with all kinds of flavours of raspberry in there. Raspberry mousse, raspberry crumble (damn I would love to make crumble myself and apparently it is not even that difficult to make 'they' say.) and all in a fancy glass to scoop out. Yummy!

I actually hope this will be a summer again of trying new places and discovering new flavors. But with the inflation driving up the prices to of literally every ingredients, the prices in all of these restaurants have also risen a bunch which is logical, but it doesn't really make it more appealing.

Nevertheless it is never a bad thing to take a moment with the people around you and have a decent amount of hours with each other!

Wish I can try such delicious foods after I am less busy and have more appetite 🥳

So busy that there is no appetite? There is always room for appetite right?

Room is much smaller lately 😂

Yay! 🤗
