Hello, lovely cooks on Hive, this is my first time to post here. Take a deep breath, then studies and observe what I have here.

Its beniseed soup, a kind of soup that is so cheap and common within our locality, here especially the Igbos to be precise.

Okay, as a student here at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, I have taken it upon myself to make food for myself as I don't have anyone else who will be cooking for me whenever I am not around. Lol, it's common here in the hostel, like every student must be a nice cook if you want to survive the situation here on campus. Okay, let me quite unfold what I have here. Like I said, today, I prepared my favorite which is beniseed soup.

Please, pardon me for using the native name for the soup since I don't know the right English name for it.

Here is the list of ingredients I used for the cooking.

Ingredients
Beni seed

How to Prepare The Soup

First, grind your beniseed which is solid and melon-like while still raw. This action will enable us to have a good and soft texture of the beniseed. When you're done with the above step, then quickly make arrangements for the type of pot you're to use.

When you get your pot, fill in the pot with clean water and then go ahead with adding other ingredients readily available for you.

From my side, I added my red oil, including the stock, and dried fish. Then before putting in the salt and Maggie.

Note that this is just a student meal, so don't expect much from it, lol
After adding all your ingredients, cover the pot and allow boiling for some minutes but you must be on the watch out in case you need to add any more things to your soup.

Now open the pot and add your ground beni seed.

Please, note that it is important to not stir the beni seed immediately. This is to avoid the just added beni seed forming wa atery solution. Haha, don't mind me for using the chemistry term "solution".

So allow the soup to boil for 3munites before you can go ahead and stir it probably.

Remember to taste the soup too. Again, cover the pot and allow it to boil for few minutes.

Get your Ugo leaves, wash them very well before you chop them into any desirable choice of yours.

After that, add the Ugo leave to your soup as you can see in the picture above, and cover the pot. Then cover the pot and allow it to boil for 6 minutes or more.

Now, you can majestically open your pot of soup and stir it again.

Finally, the pot of beniseed soup is ready!! You can enjoy the soup with garri or fufu.

Dear @kethel , Are the foods in that photos the foods that Nigerians eat on a daily basis?

Yes, but not on a regular basis, although this type of food is attributed to the southeast part of Nigeria.
