Holiday Rush at Sm City Cebu

We got back to Cebu just a couple of days ago. Cebu is my husband's hometown and it has been months since we got back.

We are so happy that our Lil B got to meet her Lola in person. She's doing great and still recovering from what happened last July.

We also didn't get to go around Cebu the first time we got here last August. We got COVID-19 and got stuck for a week isolated. Now is our chance to at least visit a few places here in Cebu!

SM CITY CEBU
It's not our first time here, but it's our first time going around the mall. We were supposed to do a quick grocery shopping and look for gifts for my in-laws. We were surprise that at 12nn there will be a lot of people in the mall already, especially on a Monday.

Honestly, yesterday was a chaos but I managed to keep my inner demon calm as I am tired and hANGRY.

ZUBUCHON

We were supposed to have lunch at 12nn at the mall but due to jam packed diners we had our lunch late. Fast food diners are all full too, after taking 2 or 3 rounds of walking along the diners we saw MoonCafe empty, but it's not empty for no reason. Probably the food is expensive. My husband saw Zubuchon with a few available seats left, we checked the prices for the dishes and went inside.

We ordered these:
Lechon

Kalabasa soup

a pitcher of guava iced tea
a platter of rice.

Thoughts?
Lechon was very good, the lechon skin is very very good! It wasn't too crunchy but you can slice it with a spoon so easily. The kalabasa soup was good too, Lil B loved it. It looked like the squash was pureed hahaha! The platter of rice was said to be good for 3-4 persons but for me and my husband's appetite, it was just for 2.

After we had lunch, we bought groceries for Lil B then looked for gifts for my in-laws. We just bought a cardigan so that she can have something that will make her feel warm. We were ready to go home but there were no grab cars available. Line on the taxi bay is so long and we are getting frustrated. I am getting more tired. I told my husband to wait for the rush hour to pass and spend more time at the mall instead. We had a short kiddie train ride just to sit for a little while then my husband's friend offered to pick us up. I told him that we can have dinner together too so we can spend a little time with him.

Dinner time
Tuslob buwa. We were looking forward to eat this dish from a foodpark nearby. As we drove along the busy streets, we passed by the foodpark and our friend noticed that it was dark. Oh no, it was closed. We passed by again and there's a note 'WE ARE CLOSED EVERY MONDAYS'. Oh boy, from all of the days why only Monday?!

Instead, we ate at Trillis a grill food house.

The price was pretty reasonable to think that the place has a nice ambiance and very chill. We ordered:

Longanisa and Chorizo for 15 or 25 pesos per stick

Fried Native Chicken around 100 pesos

and Grilled Pork Belly, I can't remember the price but what got me was the 30 pesos unli rice. WHoooohooo!

I honestly enjoyed the place and I wasn't crowded. It was very peaceful eating at the roofdeck. My husband also ordered longanisa and chorizo so I can see the difference. I have a different version of chorizo in mind that I know of. For me, Cebu's chorizo and longanisa are just like different variants of longanisa from other places or how it is made or the ingredients but it's both longanisa for me HAHAHAH!

After eating my hangriness was gone. Food really pacifies people in a way that we can't even imagine.

I hope that my husband would let us visit a few places here in Cebu during the Holidays. I am now looking for a budget friendly places or free entrance fee parks that we can visit. If you have any suggestions, feel free to comment!

That calabasa soup looks tasty, it is something I would take :)
Interestingly, here in Spain we call it calabaza soup, so similar name!
