The white jelly-like food in the picture is hasma, sometimes called harsmar and hashima. Hasma is a traditional Chinese food ingredient made from the uterine tubes of frogs, especially the female Asian grass frog (Rana chensinensis) caught in the spring. Frogs like this are said to have thick fatty tissue necessary for reproduction in spring.

Hasma is widely produced in the Heilongjiang area of Jilin. Usually the uterine canal of this frog is sold dry and has been cut into pieces. The texture is chewy like jelly when soaked in water, but still leaves a slight fishy smell. Because it is usually served with papaya or made into a mixture of sweet soup, combined with jujube (a type of red dates typical of China), longan fruit, or lotus seeds. Hasma is usually also the main ingredient of San xue Tang or 'three-snow soup' consisting of Chinese pears and snow mushrooms.
