On my recent visit to Black Sugar, a lifestyle coffee shop, I had a chance to try the infamous Pineapple Pizza.
Black Sugar is the only 24-hour cafe in Mangalore. So, it is the usual spot for us to go get a good hot coffee to sober up after the after-after parties. 😛 It is located on the outskirts of Mangalore, in Thokkotu.
I had the “Pineapple Chicken Pizza”. This was a very cheesy pizza topped with pineapple, chicken ham, and bell peppers.
The base of the pizza was delicious. The crust was finely made and there’s gracious amounts of cheese in it.
As for the pineapple, the pizza would definitely taste better without it. The sweetness of the pineapple didn’t fit well with the flavors of the pizza. But it’s surely worth the try to know what all the drama is about, hehe.

I love pineapple on pizza! I first ate pineapple on pizza with the "Hawaiian Pizza" that has ham. But it is also really tasty with Italian Sausage or most any other meat. It is good with chicken, too, but the spices chosen on your pizza might have been different on the chicken-pineapple pizza that I've had. I think the sweetness of the pineapple is a good balance to robust, spicy flavorings such a peppers. Thank you for making us drool, once again! 😁
I once had pineapple on pizza along with shrimps. That was an interesting combination and the flavours there blended. So I liked it. I wanted to add it up on the blog but I couldn’t find the pictures since it was really long ago. :(
Sadly, that outlet was shut down a year ago. This was my second go at it. And yes, I think it was the spices that didn’t match with the pineapple. I’d definitely try it again and maybe experiment with making one at home.😋

Its like this post got me in between. Cos I like pineapple, I have never tasted pizza (looking forward to it anyways). And now, pineapple pizza? 😂 Nah,I haven't tried it. But I guess it might be fun to try it out. Soon, I lauch out to trying out pizzas.

Hi @riyaflona. No doubt around pineapple pizza there is some good drama. I don't remember if I have ever eaten pizza with pineapple. But here in my country I have eaten several dishes that have pineapple and they are not desserts. For example, in a steak restaurant, within the possibilities of side dishes they served roasted pineapple, of course it is not very popular but it was not so bad. Just like sweet and sour chicken and other dishes they add pineapple for its sweetness. I love pineapple and I live in a tropical country. So I have to make sure if I have already tried that pizza, if not I have to do it as soon as possible hahaha. I enjoyed reading your post 😉.
