Sate Pajegan (Balinese Chicken Satay)

Hi Friends!

Hope this finds you well 🤗

What are you guys into (movie-wise) lately? I started watching Silicon Valley, sooo funny yet frustrating at the same time. Seems like the main characters always have bad luck 😅😅😅😅

I have an Indonesian food recipe today. Last leg of Summer, so we are using the BBQ pit as much as we can 😍 So....today's recipe is satay recipe. There's a known satay from Bali, called Sate Pajegan.

Here are the ingredients! May seem a lot, but super simple to make. I do have to mention, obviously in Indonesia, we would use fresh spices. Here in Canada, I mainly have the powder form 😁

5 dried kafir lime leaf

1/8 tsp turmeric powder

1/8 tsp ginger powder

1/8 tsp galangal powder

1/4 tsp cayenne powder

1/2 tsp dries crushed chilies

1/4 tsp ground cumin

1/4 tsp ground coriander

3 candlenut

5 garlic

1/2 large onion

Water as needed

1.2 kg boneless, skinless, chicken breast

1 - 2 tbsp coarse Kosher salt (depending on how much water you used for the paste)

2 generous pinches of white pepper powder

1 c roasted and salted peanuts

1/3 c x 3 water (thick or thin sauce depending what you like)

Cayenne powder, to taste

Garlic powder, to taste

2 envelopes of sweetener (or sugar, white or palm sugar, to taste and/or add sweet soy sauce, such as Indonesian ABC brand)

Lime juice, to taste
