GIMMARI RECIPE

Happy Friday, food lovers...

Entering the weekend, you must start compiling a list of movies or series to watch with family, friends, or lovers. How? Have you found your favorite show?

If so, I've already decided what I'm watching to spend this weekend. Korean drama, of course! My habit when watching is definitely while eating a snack. Due to the pandemic situation that made me reduce my outdoor activities, finally, I decided to make my own snacks at home. Usually I prefer to buy, because it's practical.

Did you know that in Korea there are also many snacks in the form of fried foods. If so far what many people know is fish cakes such as eomuk and odeng, or super spicy Korean noodles called samyang, or rice cakes called Teokpokki, Korea also has various favorite snacks, such as; Gimmari (a food made from nore filled with vermicelli and vegetables and then fried in flour), Ojingeo twigim (a squid wrapped in teoung dough and then fried), Gyeran twigim (an egg which is fried in a flour mixture, deep fried to perfection), Gochu twigim (a large green chili pepper mixed with fish mixture and then fried in a flour mixture), Yachae twigim( in Indonesia it's called bakwan, is a vegetable fried with flour dough), mandu twigim(this is a fried dumpling with ground beef filling), Goguma Twigim(flour-fried sweet potato), Hobak Jeon(Fried zucchini),* Gamjajeon*(potato pancakes), and **Saewoo twigim **(flour-fried udan)

Feels really good, doesn't it?

But this time I will make the easiest and simplest one. I also happen to have the necessary ingredients.

  • 3 sheets of nori
  • 1 pack of vermicelli
  • all-purpose flour (I use my serving brand for bakwan)
  • water
  • vegetable oil for frying
  • salt

TOOLS

  • spatula
  • pan
  • bowl

STEP BY STEP

  • soak the vermicelli with boiling water for five minutes, making sure all surfaces are submerged,
  • After the vermicelli is mushy, drain the water. Season the vermicelli with a little salt,
  • mix all-purpose flour with water little by little, make sure the texture is just right (not too thick, not too runny),

  • Take one sheet of nori, then put the vermicelli on one side, then roll it up. Cut the nori into two halves so that they are not too long.

Gimmari is best eaten with chili sauce or with sesame sauce.

My sister and I really like gimmari. And this is very suitable to accompany watching Korean dramas or other series that you like.
Easy and simple, isn't it?

Thanks, hive for reading my blog. Look forward to the next post, OK!
