Mother's Day Celebration for 915 Pesos ($19.25 USD)
Today is a special day for all the Moms all over the world. Happy Mother's Day to all mothers out there and we thank you for the 24/7 love that you provide us.
Let me just share with you today what we had for dinner for our Mother's day celebration. Since we still could not go out to celebrate, we looked for looked online where we could order our dinner. I asked my wife first what she wanted to eat. She knew what she wanted right away and said "Maki and Tempura".
We found a restaurant called Wok with I-yan and they do delivery.
They have a lot of food options and offer Japanese, Philippine and Western food on their menu. Since it is Mother's Day today, most of their food is already getting sold out. We sent a message earlier to the restaurant and asked to deliver our food in the afternoon. We ordered, Tantanmen Ramen, 12 pcs of Tempura, 8 pcs of California Maki and Daldal Sisig.
Two hours before they do the delivery, someone from the restaurant called and said that they have run out of Tempura. My wife was a bit upset because she called in earlier and they said everything was available. Our queen wants tempura and she should get her tempura. After a few minutes, the restaurant called again and said that they will have more in the afternoon. My wife was happy because she will still get her tempura.
Finally, our order arrived just in time for dinner. The total cost of our order is 915 Pesos ($19.25 USD).
TANTANMEN RAMEN
Cost: 210 pesos or $4.42
Delicious spicy ramen with a balance of a little sweetness and spice.
It includes one egg, roasted pork, nori and includes a slice of Narutomaki.
It looks delicious and makes me hungry just by looking at it. The egg is well cooked but the roasted pork looks a bit thinly sliced. Since pork price has risen lately, the size of the pork is understandable.
They packed the ramen neatly, having the ramen on a separate container on top and the soup at the bottom.
I poured in the soup and tried my best to neatly arrange the ramen and other ingredients on top.
I have never tried Tantanramen and had no idea how it would taste. I sipped the soup first and when it hit my throat the spice kicked in. It is spicy by tolerable and the soup is good with a hint of sweetness.
CALIFORNIA MAKI
Cost: 160 pesos or $3.37 USD
This was supposed to be 8 pcs but my wife couldn't herself from eating two pieces upon arrival.
TEMPURA
Cost: 370 pesos or $7.79 USD
Packed in a small brown box this price is for 10 pcs.
Upon opening, we noticed that the shrimp was a little bit small and realized that they put in 12 pieces instead of 10. Well, that is a fair deal from the restaurant and that is a good way to compensate for the size.
Fried golden and cooked just right. My wife and kids gave me one piece to enjoy with my ramen.
DALDAL SISIG
Cost: 160 pesos or $3.37
This dish is called Sisig and they just added Daldal(talkative) to give an identity to it. This dish is a very popular drinking food here in the Philippines. A lot of foreigners who have tried sisig enjoyed it.
Best when spicy they included a big red chili on top and it would be up to you if you want to mix it with the sisig.
Sisig is made from pork and the original recipe uses pig's face which is grilled and chopped into tiny bits. It includes onions mixed with mayonnaise and looks like here they also added chopped bell peppers.
If every you get a chance to try Sisig I am sure you will enjoy it. Especially with a cold beer.
Our Mother's Day celebration may not be at a fancy restaurant but we sure did enjoy our food. The best part is we are all complete as a family on this special day.
