Zouk Dance by Teachers Ianne & Jem at Boracay Island

▶️ Watch on 3Speak

Wanted to share another dance video that I shot at Boracay with these two amazing Zouk teachers - Ianne & Jem. Well, Zouk is a different genre of Afro-Latin Dancing. It's different and for me difficult only because I haven't taken formal classes on this yet. They are only offering such in Manila and usually takes weeks or 8 sessions to graduate Level 1. Well, I'm planning to but perhaps next year!

Anyways, during our impromptu shoot of this dance - we had some technical problems! The Go Pro I was using at first kept on cutting midway through the dance and so even when the dancers were already doing good, I had to cut the recording halfway through. 😭 It still was the same during the 2nd take until I decided to switch to the Go Pro Hero 9 our 3rd take was a success. Yes, I had 2 Go Pro with me. One was @ybanezkim26 which he lent me.

Another challenge we had during this shooting was that the weather wasn't all that sunny. It was kind of gloomy, the skies were filled with dark clouds but we had to push through as this was teacher Ianne's request. It was our last day in Boracay and we don't know when we will be back. Guess what? It rained after our 3rd take! I think the Universe got our back for that one.

Teacher Ianne chose the song "Lift Me Up" by Rihanna - one of the soundtracks to the movie Wakanda (which I haven't seen yet) as the music they would dance to. The song is deep and full of emotions and the dancers need to interpret it with their unique style of dancing which they were able to deliver. Though it was pretty intense even during the shooting part. Good thing, I was assisted by my dance coach too.

Although I did have some challenging editing this clip. During our last take, the dancers slipped and fell so I had to cut that out. Good thing we had 3 raw footage which I utilize to make this one magical dance video. Took me 12 hours to edit and a lot of revisions. In the end, I was satisfied with the results and the dance teachers appreciated how I was able to make it seemingly flawless. But I know I got a lot to improve in terms of video editing!

Anyways, enjoy the video. Let me know your thoughts. Have you tried dancing Zouk? 😍

Good choice of song! I got hooked the moment I played the video!
I didn't even notice the slipped part, and you did well editing this one 😍 If you didn't mention that you have several takes, I'd assume this is just a one-long take!

Well done to these two amazing Zouk teachers! 👏🏻

Thank you @cthings. I usually go with one-long take but somehow there was indeed a reason why we had several takes on this one. glad you enjoyed watching this vid as I did while editing.

Soon me - Zouk dancer 😝

I'm learning a lot from your blog. Dancing is one of the best recreational activities. I love dancing but the type of dance that they have done, I don't think so I can do it. They are so graceful while they do the moves.

Hello @naymhapz. Just learned this type of dancing in 1 year palang and im not yet a pro but I just enjoy with whatever level i am right now. The most important one is just enjoying it to the max.

Yes @indayclara enjoying to the fullest is one of the important thing.

With the constant practice, someday you will become a pro. Hoping to watch you doing your dance moves in the future.

Yes @indayclara enjoying to the fullest is one of the important thing.

But it doesn't show that your not a pro yet, you're doing great.

With the constant practice, someday you will reach it. Hoping to watch you doing your dance moves in the future.

In the desert by the sea, although slippery by dancing, I think it's okay, because the sand is soft, it does not cause much pain, some fall as an exercise, good luck.

dancing by the beach does provide challenges for the dancers like movement of the feet would a bit slower since the wet sand would drag the feet so its best to also choose a slower song.

Yes dear really I think so too.

I haven't tired of dancing Zouk @indayclara but if given a chance why not? Hehe . Who will be our Teacher? hehe anyway, they had an excellent performance. Congrats to them.

Who will be our Teacher?

Will find a handsome one. haha. Joke. but yeah I really hope these dances will slowly get known here in Cebu.

Wow! galing naman ng video editing skills mo. Ako hanggang reels lang sa fb na mag attach lang ng music hehehe.

I am not into dancing and zouk is not really familiar to me. I just heard it here sa post mo. Peru Ianne and Jem seems performed it well, ang girl parang with emotion talaga ang pag sayaw.

Huhuhu. THank you so much @jenthoughts! To be honest, hindi ko kaya alam paano gumawa ng reels hahahaha. mas struggle xa para sa akin.

Yes, Ms. Ianne - the girl was so passionate when dancing - always yan. Imagine, she's even an atty! Maka sana all nlng bitaw jud.

In reels bagu lang din ako natuto, just add the vedio, add some music and yun tapos na hehehe

Kelan ko kya matutunan yan .. Stiff ng katawan ko kpg sumasayaw 😂

Hahahhahaha. kunting kembot kembot lng beh. 😂
