Hallo liebe Community,
jetzt also der Yosemite Nationalpark. Einer der ältesten und größten in den USA. Was soll ich sagen, man hat so was ja schon mal in irgendwelchen Tierdokus im Fernsehen gesehen. Aber das in natura zu erleben so richtig life war eine Erfahrung, die ich nie vergessen werde. Wir fuhren von unserem Motel in Maripose eine Stunde zum Parkeingang. Zum Glück waren wir früh dran, so dass wir die übliche Autoschlange an der Einfahrt ausbremsen konnten. Dann hinein in den Park zu einem der vielen Parkplätze und plötzlich war er da, der Blick aufs Tal. Zu beiden Seiten des Yosemite Valley türmen sich die schroffen Gipfel der zwischen 2.000 bis 3.000 Meter hohen Wahrzeichen des Parks. Der El Capital und auf der anderen Seite der Halfdome. Von unserem Aussichtspunkt, dem Tunnel View hat man den besten Blick. Wasserfälle, die sich ins grüne Tal stürzen runden das Bild ab. Da bleibt einem der Atem weg.
Wir haben dann im Tal geparkt und das erste was uns begegnet war ein Reh, das keine 3 Meter von uns entfernt in aller Seelenruhe stand und uns beobachtete. Auf unserer Liste stand zuerst eine kleine Wanderung zum Meadow Lake, Rundweg ca. 5 Kilometer. Wieder tolle Ausblicke und eiskaltes Wasser, das zum Erfrischen einlud. Ich denke ich lasse hier lieber meine Bilder für sich sprechen, denn das alles mit Worten zu beschreiben fällt mir schwer, so schön war es.
Danach sind wir mit einem Shuttlebus zum Upper und Lower Yosemite Fall gefahren. Als plötzlich ein Junge im Bus schrie "a Bear, a Bear". Und tatsächlich, direkt im hohen Gras einer Wiese am Straßenrand schaute der Kopf eines Braunbären heraus und links und rechts daneben jeweils ein Ranger, die langsam auf den Bär zugingen. Vermutlich um ihn dazu zu bewegen, sich wieder in die Wälder zurück zu ziehen, denn die nächsten Wanderer waren gerade mal 100 Meter von dort entfernt. Es kommt zwar so gut wie nie zu ernsthaften Zwischenfällen mit den Bären aber ich schon froh im Bus zu sitzen und ihm nicht bei unserer Wanderung begegnet zu sein.
Mit etwas Adrenalin im Blut machten wir uns dann auf zu den Wasserfällen. Hier war zwar einiges los aber trotzdem konnten wir die Wasserfälle ganz nah genießen, eine wiederum willkommene Abkühlung, denn an diesem Tag stand das Thermometer bei über 30 Grad. Ganz anders als vorher in San Francisco an der Küste wo es immer sehr angenehme Temperaturen hatte.
Gegen späten Nachmittag ging es dann wieder ab ins Motel, wo ich nachts nochmals einen Adrenalinschub erlebte, als ich nachts um 2:00 Uhr von Geräuschen vor unserer Zimmertür geweckt wurde. Irgendetwas durchwühlte ca. 15 Minuten lang die Mülltonne vor unserem Zimmer, schmiss diese um und zerfetzte alles, was sich darin befand. Dann war wieder Stille. Erst dann traute ich mich aus dem Fenster zu schauen und sah alles auf dem Boden verstreut. Nach 2 Stunden in denen ich für meine/unsere Sicherheit gebetet habe, schlief ich dann wieder ein. Nachdem ich mir am nächsten Morgen einen Rüffel meiner Frau abgeholt hatte, warum ich nicht nachgeschaut hatte was es war und warum ich keinen Fotos gemacht hätte, bin ich raus und sah, dass auch alle anderen Mülltonnen vor den anderen Zimmern auf die gleiche Weise verwüstet waren. ich kann nicht sagen ob es ein Bär, ein Puma oder einfach nur Waschbären waren aber ich war froh mit dem Leben davon gekommen zu sein 😆.
Dann machten wir uns bereit, wieder in den Park aufzubrechen zu unserer zweiten Erkundungstour.

Hello dear community,
now Yosemite National Park. One of the oldest and largest in the USA. What can I say, you have seen something like that in some animal documentaries on TV. But to experience this in natura so correctly life was an experience, which I will never forget. We drove from our motel in Maripose one hour to the park entrance. Luckily we were early so we could beat the usual line of cars at the entrance. Then inside the park to one of the many parking lots and suddenly there it was, the view of the valley. On either side of Yosemite Valley tower the rugged peaks of the park's landmarks, which range from 2,000 to 3,000 feet high. El Capital and, on the other side, Halfdome. From our vantage point, Tunnel View has the best view. Waterfalls plunging into the green valley complete the picture. There one remains the breath away.
We then parked in the valley and the first thing we encountered was a deer, standing not 3 meters away from us in peace of mind and watching us. On our list was first a short hike to Meadow Lake, round trip about 5 kilometers. Again great views and ice cold water, which invited to refresh. I think I'd rather let my pictures speak for themselves here, because it's hard for me to describe it all in words, it was so beautiful.
Afterwards we took a shuttle bus to the Upper and Lower Yosemite Fall. When suddenly a boy in the bus shouted "a Bear, a Bear". And indeed, right in the high grass of a meadow at the roadside the head of a brown bear was peeking out and to the left and right of it a ranger each, slowly walking towards the bear. Probably to get him to retreat back into the woods, because the next hikers were just 100 meters away from there. There are almost never serious incidents with the bears but I was glad to be on the bus and not to have encountered him during our hike.
With some adrenaline in our blood we went to the waterfalls. Here was quite a bit going on but nevertheless we could enjoy the waterfalls very close, again a welcome cooling, because on this day the thermometer stood at over 30 degrees. Quite different from before in San Francisco on the coast where it always had very pleasant temperatures.
Towards late afternoon we went back to the motel, where I experienced another adrenaline rush at night, when I was awakened at 2:00 am by noises outside our room door. Something was rummaging through the trash can in front of our room for about 15 minutes, knocking it over and shredding everything inside. Then there was silence again. Only then I dared to look out of the window and saw everything scattered on the floor. After 2 hours of praying for my/our safety, I fell asleep again. After picking up a rebuke from my wife the next morning as to why I hadn't looked to see what it was and why I hadn't taken a picture, I went out and saw that all the other garbage cans in front of the other rooms had been trashed the same way. i can't tell if it was a bear, a cougar or just raccoons but I was glad to have escaped with my life 😆.
Then we got ready to head back into the park for our second exploration.

I saw bears in "natural environment" last Eastern Holidays in a Wildlife parc in Sigean (South of France), where we could drive in with our own car, but nothing to compare with your experience I'm sure, since these in the parc were clearly over fed !LOL !CTP
Was a roadtrip from San Francisco to Yosemite and then LA, two weeks. The bears come and go like they want.
I know, but I meant more about the people... That they shouldn't be allowed to come close to the bears rather to not allow the bears come close to the humans !LOL

Hi Al, sehr schöne Bilder von Yosemite. Ist tatsächlich mein liebster Nationalpark in den USA, da er doch auch bei viel Andrang noch recht weitläufig ist, dass sich nicht jeder auf den Füßen steht. Euer Erlebnis mit den Bären kann ich nachfühlen, wir hatten bei unserem Besuch auch einen in Sichtweite als wir gewandert sind. Da rutscht einem schon das Herz in die Hose.
