Wir sind endlich mal wieder auf Tour.
In den letzten Monaten waren wir hier in Japan, wie in so vielen anderen Gegenden auf diesem Planeten überwiegend auf unsere nähere Umgebung beschränkt, und konnten von der großen weiten Welt nur träumen. Aber jetzt haben wir uns doch endlich wieder einmal aufmachen können, auch wenn es (noch) nicht in ferne und fremde Gebiete ging.
Unser mehrtägiger Ausflug führt uns nach Aizu Wakamatsu, für mich fürwahr keine Unbekannte mehr, sondern fast schon eine gute Bekannte. Und trotzdem freue ich mich riesig, denn auch Bekanntschaften müssen nun einmal gepflegt und ab und zu ein wenig aufgefrischt werden. Und ein wenig Ablenkung kann uns in dieser Zeit wirklich nicht schaden.
Also Aizu mal wieder, und dort gibt es bestimmt auch für mich noch etwas Neues zu entdecken. Vor allem wenn man bedenkt, doch Aizu Samurai-Stadt ist, und eine der letzten Festungen des untergehenden Tokugawa-Shogunats, welches sich im Boshin-Krieg den imperialen Truppen des wiedererstarkten Kaisertums geschlagen geben musste. Aber dazu ein anderes Mal mehr.
Wie es ausschaut, haben wir mit dem Wetter wohl dieses Mal kein Glück und wir müssen uns wohl auf einige Tage Regenwetter einstellen. Aber auch das wird uns doch die gute Laune nicht verderben und wir werden uns trotzdem auf machen, ein paar interessante und für uns noch unbekannte Ecken der Stadt und seiner Umgebung zu erkunden.
Und bereits die Fahrt nach Aizu macht immer wieder Spaß. Wir könnten den Expressway nehmen und in fast der halben Zeit am Ziel sein, aber wie immer entscheiden wir uns dagegen und nehmen die "normale" Straße durch die Berge. Ein längeres Stück des Weges fahren wir am Agano-gawa entlang, einem Fluss, der in der Fukushima-Präfektur entspringt und nach langem Weg endlich seinen Weg in das Japanische Meer finden wird. Die Fahrt ist gespickt mit tollen Panoramen und jetzt Anfang Mai gibt es überall frisches Grün, was allein bereits die Reise wert ist.
Wir freuen uns schon auf die nächsten Tage, und ich hoffe, ich kann euch weiterhin ein wenig auf dem Laufenden halten und berichten, wie und was uns so geschieht.

We are finally on the road again.
In the last months we rather restricted to our near vicinity, as here in Japan as in so many other areas on this planet travelling was not really possible, and we could only dream of the big world. But now we have finally been able to set off again, even if it was not (yet) to distant and foreign lands.
Our multi-day trip leads us to Aizu Wakamatsu, for me definitely no longer unknown, but almost a good acquaintance. Nevertheless I am very excited, because even friendships have to be maintained and refreshed from time to time. And a little distraction really can't hurt us at this time.
So Aizu once again, and I am sure I will find something new to discover there. Especially when considering that Aizu is a samurai city. It was of the last strongholds of the collapsing Tokugawa Shogunate, which was defeated in the Boshin War by the imperial troops of the restored Empire. But more on that another time.
It looks like we won't be lucky with the weather this time and we'll have to be prepared for a few days of rain. But even this will not ruin our good mood and we will still go to explore some interesting and for us still unknown corners of the city and its surroundings.
And already the drive to Aizu is always fun. We could take the expressway and be at our destination in almost half the time, but as usual we decide against it and take the "normal" road which winds its way through the mountains. A long part of the road we drive along Agano-gawa, a river that springs in Fukushima Prefecture and after a long journey finally find its way into the Sea of Japan. The drive is peppered with great panoramas and now in early May there is fresh green everywhere, which alone is worth the trip.
We are already looking forward to the next days and I hope I can continue to keep you a little up to date and report how we do and what is happening to us.
