I think third person is a great choice if you have a story pretty much laid out in your head. If you write as an inexperienced person, that barely has a clue of the details of the story, it seems to me, it may be easier writing from first person. It does disable you in some freedoms, but it seems it would give a foundation to build a more consistent world.
