I decided to enter this contest.

Monster tells a story about a doctor Tenma who saves a life of a person who later becomes a serial killer. Tenma is suspected to be the killer and has to catch his former patient. Thus begins a search and the chase that takes place in multiple countries. Tenma and the killer are exact opposites. One of them believes that all lives are equal and tries to help everyone he can. The other looks down on every life and doesn't care how many people he has to kill. Even his own life is no exception. The killer believes that only thing people are equal is death. He manipulates and kills people as if they were nothing more but his playthings. At times the killer appears to be more like a force of nature or a ghost than a simple man. Despite this Tenma is able to find him and discover the secrets of his past. Two geniuses are similar in how they are extremely gifted but have completely different beliefs. Their clash of ideologies and constant game of cat and mouse is fascinating. Perhaps the most interesting thing about this story is the fact that Tenma's goal often seems hopeless. The killer always seems to be several steps ahead. Capturing or killing him seems to impossible. And even more importantly killing him would only give him what he wants and prove that he was right. So is it even possible for Tenma to win? Can he do it without becoming another Monster?

Hajime no Ippo tells a story about a bullied boy who wants to find out what it means to be strong. This anime if full of awesome characters and rivals. But this time I would like to leave main character Ippo and his struggles behind. Instead I would like to mention another main character- Ippo's mentor Takamura and his rise to absolute power. Unlike Ippo Takamura was always strong. He became champion of boxing in Japan without much trouble at all. For a while it seems that Takamura is so strong that his only rival is his own extremely harsh weight control. This man even defeats a bear with his bare hands. So it seems that no one can match or challenge insane power of Takamura. But then a wild world champion appears. Bryan Hawk. He is a completely savage fighter who doesn't train but still remains the champion and rules the world with his crazy power. Not only Bryan Hawk is is even stronger than Takamura but he also has extremely disrespectful. He insults and taunts Takamura, his trainer and even the whole Japan. This means that eventually it appears to be more than a simple clash of two strong man. Bryan Hawk is the first real challenge of Takamura. And overcoming him takes everything Takamura has and it still seems to not be enough.
