How do you deal with a hyperactive child?

in Education4 years ago (edited)

All children possess a lot of energy and the ability to play and move almost continuously throughout the day, but sometimes some children suffer from a condition called hyperactivity in children, but how do parents differentiate between the normal activity of any child and hyperactivity, as parents want the son to be very calm and obedient, play and movement are among the most important elements of a child's physical, psychological, mental and social development.

Symptoms of hyperactivity

  • Hyperactivity begins at around the age of three
  • It peaks at school age and is hyperactive, anxious, less focused, distracted, unable to consolidate charity, nor to sit for long in one place
  • Does not have the ability to rest and relax
  • Continuous movement with no sitting except accompanied by vibration and jumping.
  • Inability to concentrate for a long time, to speak loudly and frequently, with distracted speech and sudden screams.
  • Inability to fall asleep easily and tossing and turning during sleep.
  • He appears aggressive in his movements and is irritable and impulsive without a specific goal.
  • Fast switching from one activity to another, as if it were an engine that works without stopping.
  • Delayed language development sometimes.
  • Feeling frustrated for trivial reasons with low self-confidence.

the reasons

  • Organic causes: such as anemia, a weak thyroid gland, hypoglycemia, poor hearing or vision, or brain injuries to which the child is exposed during pregnancy or childbirth or as a result of mother's exposure to x-rays, toxins or measles.

  • Environmental reasons: due to the presence of preservatives and colorings in the food, as well as the mother's smoking.

  • Social and psychological reasons: Because of the parents' mistreatment of each other or the child, frequent corporal punishment and denial of family care.

How to best deal with an overactive child

  • You have to offer him a variety of ideas to occupy his spare time always and in them should be some movement, such as cubes, jaw, composition, coloring, sports, and so on.
  • Don't rely on ideas that require writing or a lot of mental effort to keep him from getting bored.
  • You have to be patient, gradually this extraordinary energy turns into acceptable behaviors in society, and after reaching the age of youth, he can work in jobs that require unusual activity.
  • Do not despise the child and do not abuse him.
  • Show him your love and tenderness, but don't overly pamper him.
  • Feel his importance and ask him to perform some tasks, but rely on movement tasks.
  • Reward him for calm and refrain from unnecessary slumber.
  • Ignore provocative movements of the child sometimes.
  • Do not use intimidation, but carrot.
  • Do not force him to do what he does not want, but persuade him.
  • Do not scold him in front of others.

Methods of Treatment

  • Medical treatment is not appropriate, as studies have proven that no medical treatment is effective
  • Nutritional therapy by cutting down on sweets because it increases energy.
  • Behavior therapy for parents and educators: By teaching him good behaviors and reducing his unacceptable behavior.

I hope that this study and the simple analysis will benefit everyone who suffers from high negative mobility of his child, as well as those who will have children in the future in order to avoid this.
