Game Development for Kids with Godot Engine - Create Dictionary in GDScript

in Education2 years ago

In this post we are going to take a look at How to Create Dictionary in GDScript using Godot Engine.

In previous tutorial, we covered how to use the function in the GDScript of the Godot Engine. Now I want to get into some of the programming fundamentals of the GDscript. So you may find some value out of that. So let's first start with the dictionary data structure.

Later I'll be covering the array data structure too. I may also cover the similar C# in near future but we will wait for that for time being.

This is 7th post in the series of the Godot engine tutorial. If you have not followed this series from the tutorial one then I'd recommend you to check out the table of content from the below and then choose which other tutorial you want to check. You would get into another post that would have video for specific tutorial points.

So let's get started with below video and you can check the TOC below if you want to access the previous tutorials.

Table of Contents of Godot Engine Tutorials

Godot Engine - Create New Project
Godot Engine - Change Scene Background
Godot Engine - Add Image Background
Godot Engine - Change Icon of Boot Splash Screen
Godot Engine - Create GDScript
Godot Engine - Create Function

Now check out the Video tutorial below in order to Create Dictionary in GDScript for your game project.

Like any other language, you may find that GDScript is going to be having it's set of the data structure elements too. So the dictionary, array etc are worth studying if you plan on using the same. I'd recommend you to get a bit depth with the data structure from C# language if you are into the programming or else you can continue to follow my tutorials for the rest.

If you want to try out the similar game development tutorials using the gdevelop, you can follow this tutorial trail of GDevelop Tutorials.

I hope the current tutorial was useful to you.

We will continue the further game development topic in next post.
