Hi there. In this short education post, I want to talk about dealing with technical issues with online learning.
In my work, I have been noticing more technical issues as of late. These issues do take time away from the actual learning and teaching.
Technical Issues Do Happen
Even with great advances in technology, we still get online technical issues. The issues could be from the website itself or with someone's hardware. Knowing what the technical issue may not be obvious. The teacher or administrator would have to guess what the issue may be.

Refreshing The Page
One common solution that works in my online work is just refreshing the page. Why does this work? I don't know. Knowing that it solves issues is what matters. A page refresh could resolve sound, video or connection issues.
Change Hardware/Software
One solution that I have noticed recently with a few students is to just change hardware. If a laptop does not work with the sound and video, then maybe a tablet works. Or the other way around.
I had one student with sound issues. While looking at student settings, she was using Safari browser. For the online learning platform I use at work, Google Chrome is recommended. I told my student to try Google Chrome instead. This worked better and no more sound issues.

Restart Computer
A somewhat more extreme solution is to have the student restart the computer. I recommend this solution if other simpler solutions do not work. Most of the time, this works with the website I am using. Why? I don't know but I know it works.
