Extra Learning On Weekends
Weekends for students are usually used for time off from school. The abundance of free time can also be used for learning on the weekends. Learning on a Saturday morning is good for those who want to get extra learning in at the start of a weekend and do whatever they like until Monday. Sundays are good for those who need extra learning or test preparations before upcoming tests or project due dates. Some students choose either Saturday or Sunday for extra learning. There are cases where students do extra learning on both Saturdays and Sundays. In my opinion I do recommend a day in the week as a rest day where no school work is done.
Learning Services During Weekends
Learning services such as Kumon, Sylvan Learning Centre and Mathnasium may operate during weekend hours to accommodate those who wish to do extra learning during weekends. You do have to check the franchise location for the exact days and hours of operations. For example, some locations may have Saturdays available and some may not.
These learning services can be used to review topics from class or for learning new concepts not really taught at school. As most parents work in a 9-5 work schedule, the weekends can be suitable for parents who may not be able to bring their kid(s) learning centres during after school hours. Learning during the weekends is also good for students who tend to be tired after school.
Tutoring Sessions During Weekends
Private tutoring is a good option for students who need extra assistance on a pay as you go type plan. Learning centres typically run on a subscription service that can last on a month-to-month basis, a 3 month contract, 6 month contract, etc. Prices from learning centres may actually cost more than prices from private tutors. With private tutors, the amount of sessions is set by the student or parents. Tutoring prices can be set by the private tutor directly or through a tutoring service company that connects student customers to a network of tutors.
Hours for private tutoring sessions are even more flexible than hours from learning centres. Clients could request a tutoring session at 10AM Sunday or something like 5PM Saturday. These are times where you would not see available from a learning centre like Kumon. Tutoring sessions could take place in the student's home or online. Online tutoring sessions are much more convienient as tutors save time from not commuting.
