One of the steps that we must use in achieving educational goals, especially in this modern age, is to apply design thinking in the learning process. Design thinking is a concept that has long been used in the world of fashion designers.

However, over time, design thinking has also begun to be applied in the world of education. In contrast to the application in other aspects, the thinking design in the world of education has a special and popular characteristic with the term design thinking for educators.

In the process of education or learning, design thinking is a mindset or approach used in learning by using collaboration to solve a problem. In practice, this design is a systematic, structured framework for identifying problems, gathering information, and and can produce an appropriate solution. This design thinking can be applied by teachers to students flexibly in all types of subjects. This can be done through the creation of learning projects that have been designed by the teacher, so that the learning process will run innovatively.

Some important elements in the application of design thinking.

What we must understand is, an important element in applying design thinking in learning. There are several important elements, please see my explanation below.

  • People Centered
This element is that every action we take must be centered on what we want to achieve, also to students, the desires and needs that we want to aim for must be accompanied by finding solutions to a problem.

  • Highly Creative
The second element is creativity, we are freed to be creative without limits. Even in the process of developing this creativity, it is better to collaborate with various fields in order to produce the best and creative solutions.

  • Iterative
The next element is iterative. That is a process that must be carried out in various stages and carried out repeatedly in order to achieve maximum results.

Those are some important elements that we must understand first before starting to apply design thinking in the learning process. Next we have to understand several stages of design thinking, among the stages we have to go through are Empathize, ideate, test, prototype, and define.

It should be noted that design thinking is the best method in education, apart from being easy to implement, design thinking can also stimulate creativity without boundaries in students.
