Fostering Students Skills Through Playing Different Games: Tabogon Municipal Sports Meet 2023

in Education5 months ago

"Every student has special talents. It is our duty and privilege to find these talents and to adopt our lessons to best implement them." Robert John Meehan

Developing a child is a very complex task, it's either academically or in nonscholastic activity. A good teacher should discover and identify students' ability and expose them to the right opportunities. One of my goals is to mold my learners to become a productive citizens someday and this includes fostering their skills. Children should develop their skills into a holistic one for their good.

After three years of being not active in having sports meet due to pandemic finally, the Tabogon Municipal Sports Meet is now back normally. It was a remarkable day indeed in our district, it's like we're having a festival of talents.

I have seen the beautiful faces of individuals who participated in the parade. All are showing enthusiasm and vigor as they march to the assigned venue. Each school had its own banner accompanied by the athletes and coaches.

The selection of players was made during the school playday. Most of the students are very eager to participate in the games conducted. Then we brought our best player in our school to the district to compete with other players in their respective events.

What a huge crowd? Some of the delegates are staying beside the covered court because the space is not enough for us to accomodate. There are twenty elementary schools and eight high schools joined the said event. The day was filled with laughter, excitement, and fun.

Before the game began, the oath of amateurism was given to all the athletes. They raised their hands and they promised that they would accept whatever the result was. Each athlete is prepared for their selected event. Everyone wanted to win the game but there are only two options it's either they win or lose. I've imparted this saying to my athletes that "Losing is part of the game, you have to learn how to accept your loss gracefully and move forward with determination." by Roger Federer

As the hosts of the event announced the next activity, it was the Drum and Lyre Corps (DLC) dance palabas, which all were excited to witness. There are three participating high schools showcasing their DLC Dance Palabas. The first presenter was the Dona Liling Nies Negapatan Memorial National High School. The DLC was showing their best, which made the crowd applaud and shout.

The last presenter was the DLC of Ilihan Integrated School. All of them showed their best talents to all of us. We were energized by their moves, and the athletes are ready for the game.

Chess is a game that a player should know his or her moves so that you will not get lose by the opponent. It is not physically stressful but I am sure it can use so much of our brain. These two are so much inspired they use their time in practicing more before their time started. Both of them are our players in chess. Out of twenty schools there are only few players who participated on this game.

The table is ready for the table tennis, but Ilihan Integrated School is the only school that has a player. Automatically, they won because no other school had a player on this event.

A traditional style of playing basketball, having a 3 on 3 players. It was being played on a half court, and the first team to get a high score after a 10 minutes of playing would win the game. Many schools participated the event; one of our school joined. We won on the first round by playing with the other school. But we lost in the second fight, winner versus winner.

These are the badminton singles and doubles players for both girls and boys. The officiating officials spent two days in the badminton because it didn't last on the first day due to many participating schools.

Cheers to the volleybal boys! Each team must have a strategy for playing the game. One must practice developing basic skills and have a focus on the ball. They should know how to serve, defend, and block to win the game. Coordinating and collaborating with the team is the best asset that everyone should have.

We may not be winners this time, but I'm sure we will win next time and we need to train our players ahead of time for better results. What matters most is that all of us enjoyed and gained ideas from the sports meet.

I hope you can spend some time reading my blog. Thank you and God bless!

It's good that finally the pandemic is over and everything is back to normal. It is important for students to phyisically engage in activities that will boost their sense of teamwork and leadership. Kudos to all the winners!👏

Students are very active in their own field of events, it seemed they are not getting tired. We discovered the talents and skills of our students by letting them play during the school playday. Thank you for dropping by!

I'm so glad about this district's sports meet. After a year of not having this competition, the excitement of the athletes is immeasurable.

Events like these reminded me of those years that I was once a chess player in my high school and college years. However, I'm a little bit confused why the chess players were not categorized according to their genders? Boys should not compete with the girls.

This event is really beneficial to the learners as they will learn to value the true essence of sports to our lives.

Wow, you are a chess player also, are you still playing chess on your free time? Thank you for spending your time on my blog.

It's good to witness events like this. Children could develop their potential positively. And at the end of the day, it is not all about winning, but it is all about how they play the game and the learnings from it.
Great job ma'am! @simplybil 🥰

Thank you so much @nanayko.

Constant practice makes perfect! That's the secret of winners!Next time let's give our athletes a time for practice preferably after lunch or during their PE time🙂They need to practice for a long period of time not only for a short time.🙂

I agree with you ma'am, especially they are amateur in the given events. Thank you for dropping by on my blog🙋
