With a rise in COVID-19 cases being reported, politicians have their itchy trigger fingers hovering over the big red lockdown button. The heat is on this summer to get us to comply once again with lockdowns, either now or in the coming months.
The news keeps almost parading the numbers of new cases. But so what? 1,000, 10,000 or even 10 million new cases, so what? That's not a bad thing. Ya see, they aren't talking about "OMG THE DEATHS!!!" anymore. All they got to grasp at are the cases. That's their angle for instilling fear. And it's not working.
In reality, the more cases the better, as that just makes the infection fatality rate drop more and more. But that won't stop the politicians and "experts" from not correcting the IFR or in claiming the new cases are a big problem.
What we're seeing is a "drumbeat of headlines designed to convince people to adopt new draconian government controls is more of less exactly the same as what it was back in March", as a Mises article recently wrote about. Their "losing control of the epidemic!!!!" Quick, a lockdown is needed to save us all!!!
Peter Hotez, dean of the National School of Tropical Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Texas even called the alleged new surge in cases "apocalyptic". Imagine that. This is the language they are choosing to use to try to put people into fear and convince them to obey the government in whatever they tell you to do.
With the flu coming back, and hospitals having to treat people who get there, politicians will again drum up the narrative of a lack of hospital beds and the need to keep everyone locked up at home and be forced out of work. But will it be taken and swallowed to easily the second time around?

I agree. People are wising up to the first government-imposed measures to ruin the economy and lives of millions. All for an illness that affects mostly those over 70 years old, with everyone else have a 99.98% survival rate. Yup, given the 0.26% from the CDC estimates and the 80% of people fighting it off with their immune system that don't even need to form antibodies, odds of survival are even higher.

While the narrative is that the lockdown and ruin is caused by COVID-19. That's not the truth. It's caused by government's response to COVID-19. Government did this to people. Government in some states also helped more people die in nursing homes where about 40% of deaths occurred.
The flip-flopping with the protests was also a reason for people to tell governments where to shove it. You couldn't gather with over 10 people or protest the lockdown, but you could go protest with BLM, according to their fiat "laws" that expected to be enforced by their paid goon squad.
With a lower risk of the illness known, and the consequences of the lockdown felt directly for many, I expect a second phase of lockdowns to be less palatable and therefore have much more resistance to being accepted.
The vulnerable should be protected, but everyone else should be allowed to resume their lives. The lockdowns have caused so much severe hardship for so many. It's not going to be possible to isolate everyone in the world and wait till the last person with the virus recovers. The best to get this behind us is herd immunity. The agenda driven media should focus on the number of ICU patients and not the number of positive Covid-19 tests.
Yes, herd immunity, let it spread to most, isolate the weaker and elderly, and it would be over in a few months, it would have already been over and economies intact.
The term "lockdown" refers to government's forceful closure of business.
The best way to resist the lockdown is for the businesses that re-open to voluntarily engage in aggressive hygiene and sanitation.
In this regard, I want to point out that the surge in cases is not being driven by businesses. The surge in cases seems to be related to political events.
The best way to avoid government enforced lockdowns is private action. Private action tends to work better than government action.
As for the disease itself. I fear that there are some long term consequences to this disease that have not be fully explored. We have ACE receptors in our capillaries. The disease is affecting blood in some weird ways that have not been fully investigated.
We need to resist but to resist rationally.
Resistance to uphold your rights is rational. You can submit and avoid conflict, that's rational too. Choices are usually always rational as they are rationalized in some way. It doesn't make them the most correct or right choice though.
A reason is something that came before a decision. A rationalization is an argument a person pushes to justify a questionable decision.
Here is the problem: Most of the businesses that require masks went through a reasoning process based on the best information at the time that they made their decision. I will wear a mask when I go into a business because it is a sign of respect for the reasoning process of the business.
Of course, you are correct that the ruling class is using the pandemic to rationalize a power grab. Unfortunately, since we can't see the intentions of others, we are in a situation where the best course of action is to respect the wishes of the business owner and to wear a mask in their store, but questioning the motivation behind the lock down.
This tactic builds support.
Now, imagine a person who COVID-19 and walks around sneezing up a storm. The person "rationalizes" the disrespect by claiming "resistance."
The person is using resistance as a justification for a negative action.
My niece claims that a person came up to her in a store. Sneezed on her and said: "Ha, ha. Now you have COVID19." She probably made the story up. It is is true, she simply amped up her hatred of the liberty movement because someone treated her with disrespect.
I do not disagree with the idea of resistance. But it is a tool that needs to be thought through else we end up with the exact opposite of what we want to accomplish.
PS: I've known "pigheaded conservatives" who make a show of resistance at every sign of social change. These people who made resistance a first line of defense have a knack for turning people against whatever cause they support.
Anyway, if you don't know the motivation of a person before you make a show of resistance; then the act of resistance is unlikely to achieve the desired effect. Personally, I do not have the ability to see inside the brains of other people to know their intentions.
Agreed. They can easily manipulate number of cases, and they're trying to make it seem like a big deal. Even the inflated death number is still pretty moderate for a flu year. Never been a lockdown over the flu, even on the worst years.
Yup. Media is going nuts selling the "highest daily new cases" thing, when lots of older tests are added and it just makes it less lethal anyways. Great more cases, lower deaths, wonderful, but most ppl don't have a clue.

And to take that to the next level, you seen the latest BS saying infected with minor symptoms or no symptoms usually don't end up with antibodies?
What that means for Sweden is, they're testing their population and only finding about 20% of people have antibodies, not enough for herd immunity. And it's not going up very fast anymore, even though they don't have lockdown.
This tells me, their entire population has already been exposed and/or had it. Just about every single person that hasn't been in isolation this whole time.
And still, they didn't lose as many people as Belgium, or Italy, or Spain, or the UK, and only slightly more than the USA. And their economy is healthy and they've got no lockdown to lift.

It all adds up to the lockdown being COMPLETELY inappropriate, way too harsh, and way too long. A short isolation for those who didn't want to risk illness during the main peak should have been done, and a bunch of research, and none of the draconian shit they'll never reverse.

I just saw yesterday a scene where the seller aggressively criticised a woman for not wearing it, telling her that she will not risk getting a fine.. The woman was humiliated right in front of me. So disgusting! Then the seller wanted my approval that it was ok. I preferred to sit in silence and swallow a sheer taste of disgust.Did not approve her. I wondered if it would have been worth fighting and telling her the wrong doings. But one has to pick the battles.
Fines for not wearing a mask is a good strategy now, especially how tight with money people are now. Caging the rat and taking all the toys, forcing him to take what you offer. Modern pandemic cage. Well why not get tested, at least for antibodies? Then you know if you are immune and dont need to worry about the vaccine. It help to lower the death rate by increasing the number of ppl who've had it ;) I wuldn't want to get tested with the PCR with its false positives, then get sent to quarantine.
I guess there are a couple ways to look at it. Either way they are gonna push the vaccine and that is a guarantee. Yet the regular flu vaccine has been proven to be BS and we lose 40-60k people a year to the common flu... “oh you don’t worry about that..”. Lol.

I have no idea who to believe in the current war for the narrative regarding the virus pandemic.I have seen zero sign of covid in my town but someone in UK is saying the hospital where his friends work is overrun at present, so it's all very mixed.
I wonder if hospitals being overrun has anything to do with the media telling people this is deadly, so as soon as someone gets a ought or sneeze, they think they might die, then go get checked up taking up place in hospital, or if they get allegedly tested positive when it might be negative and get put into hospital ...
