RE: Supporter Video | News roundup

I agree 100% about working for ourselves. The best way to change the system is to build another and grow from there, incorporating what works and discarding what doesn't.

I'd also like to add that something needs to change within the system itself. One rose coloured-glasses idea for the future would be a law that allows individuals to sue the heads of companies or governments directly for the damage caused by their actions, such as harm to the public, illness, death, or covering up corruption etc., etc., . In such cases, a percentage of any payout should be taken from the salary of those in charge. This percentage could scale up to 100% and aggressive measures should be taken, including allowing civil suits to reclaim damages beyond 100%, like selling their home, cars, everything they own, until they are destitute.

I believe that if leaders are directly held accountable like this, without their leadership immunity, it would significantly reduce open and private conspiracies, as people would be less likely to get involved due to the potential consequences. It would also mean, that better leaders are attracted to the role for other reasons, other than making beds of cash they can sleep in.

It would also be beneficial to establish a public fund to finance legal action that is open, transparent, and subject to public voting. This way, the public would always be aware of ongoing lawsuits.

I know, this is a pipe dream. But its something.

Implementing measures like these would force individuals to carefully consider the social impact of their actions. For example, politicians would think twice before starting a war if they could be directly sued by those affected by their decisions i.e., if your child dies in an unlawful war, you can sue the president - he would go bankrupt real fast. It would mean, war would have a real cost.

Right now, something must be done because everything feels completely out of control. Individuals can wreak havoc, smash everything in the china stop, and then walk away from the mess they created. I believe measures like the ones mentioned above are necessary. It's hard to understand how anyone can believe that such blatant corruption can continue unchecked.
Thanks!

Something like the DHF. I agree. With the DHF we have half the battle won. The stick in the mud is that the extant system is made this way in order to facilitate criminals running things, and that's who run things. Imposing just laws isn't something crimnals are interested in, and I'm not seeing a mechanism that enables imposing just laws on the criminals running things. It's why I mentioned riots and breaking china until the rest of the criminals give up and throw the named target under the bus, just to get the shop opened again.
