Weren't you defending copyright the other day? A patent, my friend, is a mark of ownership, and you're not against that. When you make something yourself, something that has never been made before, then you can apply, and pay for a patent. Capitalism however dictates that only the ones with bucket-loads of money can afford such a patent, which in turn means that almost no patent is owned by the poor individual who had the original idea.
