Something was telling us about the approaching storm

in Inspired by Nature8 months ago

Wednesday, July 19.

The blue sky was so clear; there were no signs that any tiny cloud would appear that day. As we like to do on summer afternoons we packed a few towels, water and snacks, and went to the marina. You can find there a lot of boats: small, very basic, and also some nice ones (you will see them in a moment) but of course, we can pick just the one we have the key to. 🔐

My father-in-law owns a small, metal boat, perfect for the turbulent waters of the river Danube. This is the vehicle that so many times already took us to a little sand island in the middle of the river. By the power of nature, it appeared a few years ago when sand started to pile up in that place. And now there is already quite a lot of vegetation - parts covered with grass but also trees. It became a regular island, with that mini forest on the white sand.

This photo was taken at 16:13, from the sand island.

And just 46 minutes later, at 16:59 it became darker and the sky received a thin layer of clouds.

Something was telling us that we should go back to the town and go home. The weather can change so quickly and bring a storm and when you are on the water it is not really safe.

That something that was telling us about a possible storm was not just our intuition... You know, there was a little battery-powered portable radio in our boat. Do you see it? Well, it was telling us about the storm that was approaching from the other side of the Danube.

We were listening to the news: a huge hailstorm and strong wind caused a lot of damage in several cities, and it was slowly moving toward us.

We didn't think twice. Although we were happy there, it is common sense that must govern in such situations. There will be other days to enjoy the desert island.

Already in the marina, I was watching those other, nice boats I mentioned:

But if we want to be a bit more modest, this is nice as well, with the red details.

Have you seen the name of the third boat? It is Tinatik - almost like Titanic!
I wouldn't like to have that one lol. 😂

These are cute too, but the simple metal boat that took us home was the best that afternoon; it gave us a ride to a nice place and brought us back, just in time!

We crossed the bridge, arrived at the parking lot, drove home and at that exact moment I closed the gate of the house the rain started! How lucky we were that day!

You have no idea how much I love boats, too! Oh the Titanic.... well it might be the cousin hahaha but I love it!

What beautiful pictures, love them!

Thanks @mipiano ❤️

Have a lovely Saturday!

Hahahaha, @avdesing 😂 the cousin of Titanic 😂
I must admit that it is a great idea, I didn't think about that, a cousin. 😂

I hope you are having a great Saturday too 😉🍸

Surely the titanic has a family, poor thing hahahaha.🤣

Thanks for those good wishes too!

I think the modest red detail boat is the fastest. Te gustan los 🛩️?

I also think it would be the fastest one, though I didn't have the key to it so I couldn't test it haha.

Sí, me gustan los aviones :D

Love the story and you have some great shots there, the third one down love it

Thanks @grindle 😇

Would be great to be there now and have a ride again...

Happy days happy memories

The weather this time is unpredictable. In the Philippines, it can change in the blink of an eye.

It's good that you didn't hesitate to go home. We should prioritize our safety before anything else.

Yes, luckily we went home. Those days there we got several hailstorms 🤐

Hello dear friend @mipiano good day
It's good that you were listening to the news about the weather, and avoided an unnecessary headache, who knows what can happen with the weather
Beautiful photographs, they are a fan of port shots, thank you very much for showing us these beautiful images
have a wonderful weekend

We were listening to the music but then the news about the coming storm made us decide to go back. Thanks and a great weekend to you too 😇

It was nice to see the ships through you. It is one of my dreams to have a little boat and to be able to go from port to port, at least from my little island. In Cuba such an action is not allowed.🤷‍♀️ I hope that at some point the powers that be will enlighten and give us that gap of happiness

It's not allowed in Cuba?
Oh 😔
I hope you can fulfill your dream one day ⛵🚤 @dayanart ☘️

No, here, because of the emigration issue, all these kinds of things are very restricted, there are even keys where Cubans cannot go because they do not have a navigation permit. But I hope to comply with it at some point.

I understand... Well, hopes and prayers that one day it can be changed 🙏✨

❤️🙏✨💙

Those are some nice looking vessels 👍 Not good to get caught in the water or near it when storms are coming in. There has been a few times I've been shore fishing and just made it back to the car in time . Those right before storm moments are good fishing though. I don't usually play though I pack up when the storm is about 5 miles away, we'll it really depends how far away I am from safety. Take care :)

You have experience already :)

My husband's father is also fishing from this boat many times, it's important to know how to recognize the signs of a storm and to calculate the time needed to get back to a safe place. When we go to this little sand island we go just for having a time by the river without a lot of people around, as just those with a boat can get there heheh 😂
Thanks @coolmidwestguy 😉⛵

⛵ + 🎣 = 🐟 & ❤️

The weather these days can be predicted, it might be shining for a little while, before you know it begins to rain so hard. The boats look nice.

Que hermosos paisajes. Gracias por compartir.

Gracias @juliom ⛵️
