Organic fertilizer versus inefficient and highly polluting agriculture

in ecoTrain3 years ago

In agriculture, the objective is to achieve high yields per unit area to meet the growing demand for food, without considering the sustainability of production (technical feasibility, economic profitability and no pollution).

▶ The successes of this strategy have been important, but it is a very inefficient and highly polluting agriculture, which has led to the loss of biological diversity, reduction of forest resources, soil erosion, climate change, etc. For this reason, it is necessary to find adequate production solutions.

From this perspective, organic fertilizers, due to their chemical composition and physical characteristics, related to their nutrients, are a favorable element for the development of crops.

The elaboration of organic fertilizers occupies a very important place in agriculture and contributes to the improvement of soil structures and fertilization through the incorporation of nutrients and microorganisms.

And also to the regulation of soil pH with the use of organic fertilizers, farmers can reduce the use of external inputs and increase the efficiency of community resources, while protecting human health and the environment.

The organisms provide nutrients, correct deficiencies because they contain slow release nutrients and improve the physical-chemical and biological conditions of the soil, thus helping the development and growth of plants.
