I am very happy to present a new model for the ecoVillage prototype earthship home. I've been working hard on this design! It is based on one of my favourite sacred geometric shapes, the Fibonacci spiral. It was always a desire to build an earthship based on a spiral, and now after a lot of thought and work I think I have come up with something very interesting! The thing with designing Earthships is that function is as, if not more, important than appearance. If you can manage to blend the two together then that is a great result. This design is beautiful to look at, and is also design to perform very well in very hot and cold climates. The reasons for this will be explained in further posts as there is a LOT to say about this design. In this post i am just sharing this very first rough design with a rough layout. The interior design is really just an example to give you a sense of how the space could be used.
So if this interests you, and you would like to know why this building is going to (HOPEFULLY) keep its occupants very cosy then stay tuned as i explain more next time. Any comments on this design always welcomed. I know there aren’t many biotechct's on Hive so many things won't yet be obvious, and will be explained soon.. I will also be adding some other features such as the convection cooling tube systems and the earth berm behind the house.
I believe this design could be built at very low cost. The roof is very simple with a single sloped area, and the main walls would be made from dirt and tyres. The glazing will cost the most, and can be more or less expensive depending on budget. This design can also be simplified to exclude the greenhouse and the berm, which would let you build the main structure with just ONE WALL, that is the main spiral. If i go with this design I may well test this simple approach first and see how it performs. I will share that simplified design soon, along with updates on this!

Looks beautiful, what are those two enclosed semi-circles... sleeping pods?
u nailed it! one is an office pod and one a sleeping pod.. they look cosy to me.. but im not sure yet about them .. .. many things will change.. eg the location of the shower and kitchen arrangement.. its a work in progress but the spiral is the main feature! glad u like it so far though!
Wow! A 3D... I have plan to make DIY aquarium! A hydroponic. But I am still looking for a Styrofoam box. 😊
This just brings a huge WOW to my mind!! It is a very nicely thought out design, I can imagine how awesome it would be to have breakfast while looking into the greenhouse. I might just be borrowing a few ideas from this for the building of my own place 🤓
