in ecoTrain2 years ago

Welcome to this week's Sustainable curation from the ecoTrain community! In this curation I draw together those posts that speak to our core topics relating to sustainable living. This covers so many things and includes many lifestyle and personal development aspects as well as the more obvious topics such as gardening and healthy eating.

Thank you to all of you who do share your posts with us at the ecoTrain community. It's great to see a pretty diverse range of posts, and many in which you really share your own personal stories and life activities. Many of you are living off grid and sustainably and so it makes me happy to see your continued posts and sharings about your own personal life and challenges.. and of course how you overcome them! This week I have chosen nine posts that shine and I think can be really interesting as well as useful for many of us on this path!

Also if you haven't spotted this weeks QOTW, there is still plenty of time to post! The question this week is 'Have you ever witnessed a miracle? Please share your story.' This is a lovely question and a beautiful opportunity for you to just share your experience with us. So far the #qotw is buzzing with over 60 of you responding already with your own miraculous stories! Please do join us and share as it seems so many of us have experienced a miracle at some point in our lives. More info in the post here.

Being a Permaculture practitioner - Making a 'house call'

Hello friends, family and followers! January is sure going fast, can you believe that already 6% of 2022 has came and went? I have been practicing permaculture for at least 9 years now, and 9 years at least since I went to get my PDC in Costa Rica. Its eight years on the farm and the good stuff really only starts when I get on the blockchain. But recently, people have been asking me for my advice. Hey, what native trees should I not cut down when I am preparing my fields for shade grown coffee? But to give advice effectively, you have to go.

Here is his son, teething on a 'hueso de cola', which is the bone of cow tail that has given the flavor to our delicious sancocho lunch. This family of 5 moved to this farm when the pandemic started, and over the last two years, have determined that this is the life that they want their children to grow up in. The question is, how to build a viable life in el campo?

Going Green ‌‌‌~( Inner Story)....

Do you love Nature ?

If this question is asked to people individually then they would come out with shockingly reply, most of the people would laugh this out and some of them will say that, they do love nature and bla bla..You would be lucky to have the question answered from a poet and philosopher, beacuse these are the group of men who will keep you giving right answers in the context.

Anyway,I asked the question to you, not because I preach environment and the green nature of it,but nature plays a big part in our life and the realm of aesthetics.

Nobody cares and this is true, that in the city streets and industrial settings, living in midst of clogged up cars and wiping the forehead with the towel in hand,it might seem like living in the hell and we do pray to God,that ---😮

Labels: Substantially Limiting To A Fault?

I never truly discovered myself..... who I was, what I was, until I attained adulthood and this is probably because adulthood is the true reality. Reality in the sense that, we've never really reckoned with what the world is like until we have to make our own choices, take responsibility for our actions and stand to defend our decisions.

The world is full of stereotypes, class divisions, racism, labels and all that, and sometimes we subconsciously understand were we fall into in these endless divisions. Sometimes it's difficult to express ourselves especially when we're limited by labels we automatically slot into of which we can never control. The world isn't peculiar enough, especially with the fact that we have to define people by some particular standard for some specific important purpose in life.

Sometimes, what we are, gives us a different understanding of what reality is. People can specifically relate to us differently especially when they realize that we're different, what they initially love about us begins to wane. A recent knowledge they have come to gather about us is overshadowed by what they have recently come to learn, making it seem like the relationship they've built with us is based on labels, the qualities or the value that they can equate to us. In actuality, we try as much as possible to not let labels define us, but we often succumb to its definition.

How Do We Create A Better World, When Some People, Continue To Believe That They Are Above Others?

Things will never change, if we are not willing to see others, as equals. I had thought, that when I became a part of the collective in my community, that this would have been a given. Because this hierarchical structure within society, really is at the root of all of our problems and what holds us all back. But it seems, that some perhaps, were just waiting to create something ‘new’, under the guise of a better way, just so they could step in and try and lead and claim all of the glory for themselves. To be ruled by the ego.

Wow, suddenly that person, sounds very like a politician

Well today things came to a head, when this one person once again stepped over the decisions of others and put themselves at the top once again. When we tried to highlight how this behavior is not beneficial or in line with our vision, they refused to acknowledge what they did and instead tried to place the blame on others.

The Advantages Of Natural Green Vegetables And Their Ability To Cure Disease

NON-PRODUCTIVE VEGETABLES

How are you all doing, my friends, and how is life treating you? I'm fine, and I wish you all the best. Another beautiful day, full of blessings and love. I'm back with another post about natural fruits and vegetables, which we were discussing earlier. In the previous post, we discussed the characteristics, eating, and blooming of citrus fruits, as well as their benefits. Today's topic will undoubtedly be natural vegetables, which are a favourite of anyone who enjoys a healthy diet.

Natural vegetables come in a variety of varieties that are truly endless, and each region has its own set of vegetables. Many vegetables are still unknown to us because they are not grown in our area, and similarly, there are vegetables that are unknown to other continents but are only known by their names. We may only have 20 to 30 vegetables that I am aware of, according to my knowledge.

A PRODUCT OF MY ENVIRONMENT - NATURAL, DIY LIFESTYLE

Just a natural man living in the natural world!

I may have left the city life for the country many years ago, but there's still a lot of city life mentality that I'm working on leaving behind. To become more self-sufficient, I am trying to become a product of my environment, and use what's available to me in the natural world to solve more of my own problems. In this video, I work on creating some natural bamboo tools to spearfish and bowfish with. My hope is that when spring gets here, I'll be ready to go with some homemade equipment to harvest fresh fish from the wild for my family. Enjoy the show!

Off to the Ranch #12: Exploring a subtropical forest | How valuable is freshwater?

Heeeyho Readers! More updates from our little ranch!

Can we really measure how valuable water is?

In my understanding, the value of a good or service is subjective. That is, the value of freshwater for someone at the heart of the Amazon forest might differ from someone lost amidst the Saharan desert. Price, thus, is the judgment of value translated into monetary/barter figures. But can we value freshwater? Or better, are we evaluating water enough?

"Water covers about 71% of the earth's surface. 97% of the earth's water is found in the oceans (too salty for drinking, growing crops, and most industrial uses except cooling). 3% of the earth's water is fresh. 2.5% of the earth's fresh water is unavailable. 0.5% of the earth's water is available fresh water"usbr.gov

0.5% of the earth's water is available fresh water

So, I'm sitting on the front porch watching trucks carrying freshwater 24-hours a day from a location a hundred kilometers away. I think to myself: "What's the cost of it? Why can't they explore the nearby aquifers?"

Refining "The Virtual Mindset" For A Better Ecosystem

Life is good and could be bad as well. life is awesome and could be unappreciating as well. No matter the way you see life; so it is to you. Hence the need to change your motive and perspective about life. We all live in a planet that conforms to a template laid down. The template is expected to be learnt and drawn reflections from. We just don't decide anything we like; but uses life reactions to weigh the possibility of what to get in return. So, Life is just the way we think it is and can be more than our human perspective as well.

Life is Principle-based and a law system which applies to all living beings on earth. We need the non-living matters of life to survive and this is the more reason nothing should be wasted. A used product can be recycled or converted to another finished product. Even we humans are proteinous in nature and an organic manure to boost soil fertility and plant growth after our demise. Life is a reality; but a mystery. Despite the configuration of the human nature, death supersedes. You only got the strength and have many options to break new grounds and conquer millions while you're alive, but there's a limit to life no matter how long we stay.

Potting Up Seedlings, Mandolin Practice, Gate, Dinner, BIF Bean - Monday

The boys had the day off from school yesterday which made for quite the noisy house most of the day. It was nice though to be back on the regular schedule though as we were out soaking nice and early. While the boys were still sleeping I managed to find a bunch of mandolin books and videos to download and surprisingly had them fairly fast. The download has me a ton of good info and I ended up spending time in the mandolin song book working the various song tabs.

In the tent I added a table for everything to sit on. It raises the trays up from near the floor and into the warmer area of the tent. I have an old card table frame that has been sitting around for years and I found that it is less than 3ft square so it fit perfectly in the tent. I have a couple of pieces of wood from a shelving unit that fit perfectly as well.
