EcoTrain Question of the Week Season 8 # 3 | "What action do you think needs to be taken to combat climate change?"

in ecoTrain2 years ago

On the left is a soil where deforestation and burning had taken place, the consequence of which was to decimate the life on the ground. On the right, the same soil after a remediation process, after rehabilitating the soil it received organic amendments and what was planted was carried out with organic management. The trial was carried out by me.

Soil must never be allowed to reach this level of degradation and contamination.

Greetings dear readers

This week I join the @ecotrain Community to answer the question of the week. This season is "action" and this week we are asked:

The Question is

'What action do you think needs to be taken to combat climate change?'

This week's question is a systemic one as climate change is a consequence of anthropogenic action and this action affects Mother Earth in all her interconnected systems. I am talking about the water system, the soil system and the air system.

What is Climate Change?

It is the alteration and variability of the climate and temperature of Mother Earth. This variability affects all ecosystems globally and all living things on the planet including humans. These alterations negatively affect all vital functions in our ecosystems, including water availability, plant and animal agricultural production, the settlement of human and animal life and many activities in the various ecosystems on a planetary level.

@marlenyaragua

Taking into account that human action is the main cause of this increase in temperature of our Mother Earth and consequently this increase in temperature affects the availability of water to the point that it limits life, we must take daily actions so that our actions do not alter the systemic balances of Mother Earth. To this end, I am going to recommend daily actions that I usually take on a daily basis.

  • Avoid deforestation in forested areas. Slashing and burning in our forests has consequences for the entire rainwater harvesting system of the forests. Forests are rainwater catchment areas. If there are no forests, rainfall in the area decreases. If there are no forests there is no one to consume the large quantities of gases that increase the greenhouse effect, which is the increase in the temperature of Mother Earth. CO2 is the most greenhouse gas that exists.
  • Avoid burning solid waste containing plastics as it generates gases that affect the atmospheric balance.
  • Avoid polluting surface water bodies, especially the oceans, because when these aquatic ecosystems are polluted, the concentration of phytoplankton decreases, and it is the phytoplankton that is most responsible for producing oxygen and decreases the production of CO2, which has a harmful effect on global temperature.

A suggestion

The more trees you plant and take care of, the cooler your spaces will be. In my house I don't have air conditioning. The temperature of my living space is much lower than all the surrounding areas due to the large number of plants that are planted.

Anything we do to minimise human predation is of collective benefit to all living things, including humans. Mother Earth has an extraordinary capacity for resilience. Resilience is Mother Earth's capacity to transform itself in the face of adverse situations; however, in these processes of transformation, balances are altered and the consequences of this alteration are dire for all living beings that live on Mother Earth. This is when socio-natural events such as landslides, floods, forest fires, cyclones, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcano activation, among other events that limit life on Mother Earth, occur.

Recently at COP26 there was a great participation of the youth at a global level and they generated a document in which the youth put forward their opinion and proposals to minimise the predatory effect of the big economic groups on the atmosphere of our Mother Earth. However, the document of intent signed in the framework of COP26 was more of the same. The nations with the highest production of greenhouse gases are untouchable and refuse to minimise the production of these gases with genuine chutzpah.

We must remedy, care for and preserve our Mother Earth

We must respect Mother Earth
We are part of Mother Earth... We are not its owners

#Pachamama deserves it!

We are Energy ... Energy transforms!
