This is part 2!

You can find part 1 here:

In this one I talk a bit about my own process of self-love and getting out of my comfort zone to push myself forward.

After having Ching Yi on twice as a kind of co-host, this time she joined me as a guest but ended up becoming the host and letting me be the guest. I love having her on because she always asks great questions. The main topic we wanted to talk about today was how we explore self love and self healing, but as usual, we float around these topics very liberally.

You can find Chingyi on Instagram: @ chingyion and @ missyellow_inwhite

If you want to see her on Hive let her know in the comments, she has been interested in Hive for a long time now but has yet to join.

And if you like what I do, check out my novella series "Confessions of the Damaged" in the link below ;-)

I was wondering; since it was you both, I was hoping you both can dedicate like five minutes to speaking Chinese. Chi is such a great conversationist. The way she carries the conversation is exceptional, it's a session of self reflection and knowledge.

Besides how's your health situation with you and your girl coming?
@tipu curate

Haha that would be great but she speaks Cantonese and I learned Mandarin. But actually I studied Cantonese because so many friends speak it. It's much more difficult for me than Mandarin but I should practice with her.

I will let her know your praises 😆

We are doing well. I’m back to work already back to balancing a million things!

Well you can practice with her, maybe in your next recording, and see how it pans out, I definitely think that it'll be exciting. I wish to learn one of the two languages, maybe you two can become my muse hahaha.

Wel manadarin is much easier and more useful but Cantonese …half my friends speak Cantonese because of where I lived and travelled 😆 !pizza

I loved this episode! So much good stuff, so much I can relate too. Keep it up!

Thanks man, after rewatching it I can see why. We hit all the points that you and I talk about. Don't you see why I want to introduce IRL friends to hive friends. You guys are all so awesome!

I'm gonna try to have my great wizard beard tea master traveling Gypsy jazz friend translator friend on soon too. He's still a little anti crypto but he's so interesting!

Here is a detailed summary article about the discussion:

Embracing the Struggle: Finding Positivity in Challenges

In this thought-provoking conversation, the host shares insights on reframing the concept of struggle and using it as a catalyst for growth and self-discovery. The host explains that they initially viewed certain challenges, like building an audience for their writing and starting a podcast, as negative experiences. However, they realized that by approaching these struggles with an open and curious mindset, they were able to learn and evolve in unexpected ways.

Overcoming Insecurities and Embracing New Experiences
The host recounts their initial dislike of vlogging, seeing it as an activity dominated by self-centered "YouTubers." Yet, by pushing themselves to try it, they uncovered deep-seated insecurities about being judged by others. This process taught them the valuable lesson of learning to let go of such concerns and focus on the excitement of the new experience. The host emphasizes that this shift in perspective allowed them to find joy and fulfillment in activities they previously disliked.

Redefining "Home" and Embracing a Fluid Sense of Belonging
The discussion then explores the host's unique perspective on the concept of "home." Rather than tying their identity to a specific geographic location, the host views the world as their home, adapting and creating a sense of belonging wherever they go. They explain that this flexibility allows them to find inspiration and positivity in diverse environments, rather than clinging to a singular idea of home.

The Importance of Self-Acceptance and Letting Go of Judgment
A key theme that emerges is the host's emphasis on self-acceptance and the need to let go of self-judgment. They share their personal struggles with self-criticism and how it can negatively impact mental health. The host advocates for a more compassionate approach, where one acknowledges their flaws and challenges, but responds with understanding and patience rather than harsh judgment.

Embracing a Balanced Perspective on Life
The host also discusses the cultural differences they have observed, particularly the balance between logic and emotion in various societies. They appreciate the openness to alternative perspectives and beliefs in certain Asian cultures, which they feel allows for a more holistic understanding of the world. The host believes that this balance, rather than an over-reliance on pure logic or emotion, can lead to a more fulfilling and enriching life experience.

Conclusion
Throughout the conversation, the host encourages a mindset of embracing challenges, cultivating self-acceptance, and finding joy in the journey of self-discovery. By reframing struggles as opportunities for growth and maintaining a fluid, open-minded perspective, the host demonstrates the power of shifting one's mindset to navigate life's complexities with resilience and positivity.
