Pleasant greetings to you all👋
I am down with learning new things especially about other places, cultures and ethnicity. I like the fact of being able to discern what makes other people from different geographical locations “tick”.
Hence, this brings me to the one thing that I would love to learn from the Korean tradition. For me, that one thing would be calligraphy.
Calligraphy is an art that is so very unique on its own because it is not just a writing skill, rather it is an art form that embodies and expresses the country's aesthetics, philosophy and culture.
Each time I watch traditional Korean movies and see how the children of royals, nobles and ministers are trained in that art form, I feel so intrigued.

From the way the calligrapher lifts the brush, touches its tip to the ink and then stylishly strokes the brush on paper to create a unique writing pattern is simply wonderful.
I would love to learn how to write in calligraphy so that I can write some good will messages to my friends and loved ones with it.
Korean calligraphy might have had Chinese influence way back (over 2000 years ago during the Han dynasty) but the Koreans were able to adapt it to their own unique style which truly reflects their culture and philosophies.
Being able to write calligraphy would bring me immense pleasure and also open me up to the uniqueness of those many calligraphy masters who studied it, gained mastery and taught it for many years. Some even went as far as becoming renowned for their calligraphy works.
Secondly, I kinda think that there is something attractive about holding a little paint brush and crafting a masterpiece on paper.
Thank you all for reading.

Yes, even though I haven’t touched such before, when I see those people in Korean movies holding the paint brush and inscribing some words, it’s always attractive.
It is o 😁
