Following my last post, I'm going to continue listing my 2023 Smart Buy items. They might seem trivial, but they've had a significant impact on my life, so please bear with me as I jot these down. 😁
지난 포스팅에 이어 23년 Smart buy 아이템을 다시 써보겠습니다. 시시껄렁한 아이템으로 보일 수 있으나 내 생활에 크게 영향을 준 것들이므로 적어 내려가오니 이점 양해 부탁드립니다요. 😁
4.Tongue cleaner (혀 클리너)
I've been using a tongue cleaner for a while, but this 10-layer tongue cleaner stands out as it minimizes the gag reflex while efficiently scraping off the white coating. It's a small difference, but with a big impact – that kind of product.
Interestingly, cleaning the white coating off the tongue not only reduces bad breath but also contributes to gum health and prevents toxins from being absorbed into the body, thereby aiding overall health.
혀클리너는 예전 부터 써왔지만 이 10중 혀클리너는 사용 시 구역질을 덜 나면서 백태를 청소하는 효율이 보다 뛰어 납니다. 작은 차이지만 효과는 큰, 뭐 그런 제품이라 볼수 있겠습니다.
참고로 혀의 백태를 청소하는 효과는 입 냄새 저감뿐만 아니라 잇몸건강, 그리고 독소가 몸안으로 흡수되는 걸 막아 전반적인 건강에 도움을 준다는 군요.
5.Air Gun (에어건)
What can we do with an air gun? Personally, I often use this nifty gadget to clean the interior of my car and occasionally give a thorough blast to my keyboard and desktop, both inside and out. Every time I use it, I can't help but marvel at the sheer amount of dust it displaces, a testament to its small yet mighty power. lol
Especially during autumn season, when fallen leaves blanket my car, giving it a blast with the air gun is surprisingly satisfying. ;)
에어건으로 우리가 할 수 있는 일은 무엇일까요? 저는 이 녀석으로 차량내부를 자주 청소하고 가끔은 키보드 및 데스크탑 내외부를 자주 불어 줍니다. 사용 할 때마다 많은 먼지가 날리는 것을 보며 작지만 강한 화력을 가진 녀석에게 감탄을 금치 못합니다.
특히 가을 낙엽이 차량을 잔뜩 덮었을 때, 에어건으로 불어주면 나름 쾌감이 느껴집니다. ;)
6.Brita water filter 브리타 정수기
Korean tap water is known as one of the cleanest, but Koreans seldom drink it straight from the tap (only about 7% do so, as of 2017). This reluctance stems from a deep-seated distrust of the authorities, rooted in incidents like the heavy metal contamination scare of 1989 and the phenol crisis of 1991. Aggressive marketing by bottled water and water purifier companies in the late '90s significantly altered people's habits. I, too, have been buying bottled water, but the accumulating plastic bottles are no joke. Recycling them is a hassle, and it doesn't seem great for environmental protection. I considered water purifiers, but dropped the idea due to maintenance issues and the space they occupy. Moreover, there are expert opinions and experimental results suggesting that long-term consumption of water filtered through reverse osmosis, which removes even essential minerals, can be harmful.
So, in searching for an alternative, I chose Brita. While its ability to remove heavy metals may not be good as Reverse Osmosis purifiers, it excels in other areas, especially in terms of cost and waste generation. I just fill a jug with tap water, and that's it. I use two Brita filters for cooking and drinking water reserve.
-> Physical filtration for primary purification (Brita)
-> Boiling to remove any possible remaining bacteria.
-> Storage in a container.
한국의 수돗물은 매우 깨끗한 물중에 하나로 알려져 있지만 한국인들은 절대 수돗물을 그냥 마시지 않습니다. (수돗물을 그냥 마시는 비중은 7%내외, 2017년 기준) 이는 관리당국에 대한 뿌리 깊은 불신에 기반하는데 1989년 중금속 오염파동, 91년 페놀파동 등 90년대 중후반의 생수업체 및 정수기 제조회사들의 공격적인 마케팅이 사람들의 생활 방식을 바꾸기엔 충분했습니다. 저 역시 생수병을 사서 먹어 왔으나 쌓이는 플라스틱 빈병을 보면 양이 이게 장난이 아닌겁니다. 분리배출 하는 것이 귀찮기도 했고 환경보호를 위해서도 좋지 않다고 생각이 들었습니다. 또한 유통과정이 불투명 하기도 하고... 그래서 정수기도 알아보았으나 관리 문제나 공간을 차지하는 문제로 단념하였습니다. 그리고 역삼투압 방식의 정수물은 필수 미네랄까지 걸러내서 장기 음용 시 건강에 문제가 있을 수 있다는 전문가 의견과 실험결과등이 있습니다.
그렇게 대안을 찾다가 브리타로 선택을 했는데, 중금속 제거 효과만 비교하면 역삼투압 방식의 정수기에 비해 떨어지지만 그 외 다른 부분, 특히 비용 및 쓰레기 발생량에서 비교해보면 압도적인 우위에 있습니다. 그냥 물통에 수돗물을 채우기만 하면 끝입니다. 2개의 브리타 정수기를 사용하는데 이 물을 요리 시 사용하기도 하고 한 번 더 끓여서 음용수로도 사용합니다.
-> 물리 필터를 통해서 1차 정수 (Brita)
-> 한번 끓여서 혹시 모를 잔여 세균 등 제거.
-> 물통 저장 (냉장고 등)
So, I've hastily scribbled these down, but it's got me thinking... From now on, I should aim for more thoughtful with fun spending. Stay tuned for my 2024 My Smart Buy post. LOL!

Unfortunately, there is too much chlorine in tap water in Turkey. That's why we only drink packaged clean water. Or we use purifiers. 😀
You're very smart to encourage and promote plastic waste reduction! One of the biggest buck generator industry by the time I graduated from university was the "in vitro fertilization" industry. Happy New Year 2024! 😄
Omg, you opened my eyes about the cleaning of the tongue, now I plan to go to the mall at the dental section later to see if there's something similar 😅
The air looks cool! I may use it to knock off bugs and spiders (if it's strong enough).
I think the water filter is something that I will consider as well, just for peace of mind, lol.

I should get one of those air guns for my dad. He loves to clean cars and he does deep cleaning. That's why he sometimes takes the vacuum cleaner we have at home with him XD He should use this instead.
