The greatest days of a man's life are two: the day he is born and the day he discovers his purpose.
Some people discover their purpose early, while most find it later in life.
Nonetheless, the problem does not lie in how long one takes to discover his/her purpose; rather, it's you not discovering it at all. We ask ourselves, how do I know what I am here for? When do I know that it is time to start what I am here for?
Discovering one's purpose is usually not a walk in the park. It is like going for an adventure, and in that quest you need apparatus such as a map to keep track of where you are heading, water for hydration, binoculars to view the scenery, and a camera to take pictures for memory.
Today, I'm pleased to share with you how you could figure out the answers to your questions:
REFLECTION
One of the ways to know what we are in the world for is to ponder on our lives. If you have been missing in this part, it's time you start reflecting. Think carefully about how your life has been in the previous days, weeks, months, and years. This will help you realize how much time you've wasted and how much of it you have made good use of. Therefore, helping you to keep your nose to the grindstone and make changes where necessary.
WHAT DO YOU CARE ABOUT?
Martin Luther King Jr. started as an assistant pastor in the Baptist church in Alabama. In the course of his pastoring, he discovered that not only does he enjoy teaching the word of God, but he also loves seeing people live according to it. That passion led him, with others, to organize a peaceful protest to end the violation of civil rights against the Blacks.
Perhaps the morale wouldn't have been there had he not started with preaching. What we love doing may not be our purpose, but it could be a drive to discovering and fulfilling it, just like Martin Luther King.
TRY OUT NEW THINGS:
Some people enjoy living their lives in one way. Yeah, it's good to do what we are comfortable with, but what if that isn't us? What if that thing we are comfortable doing isn't what we should be doing? Opening your mind and heart to new things could help you figure out why you are here.
Just as we need a map, binoculars, and a camera during adventures, so it is in the journey of discovering you. You need to reflect, try out new things, and use your talents.
