Good morning all this is my response to today's prompt Gender as an advantage or disadvantage.
Like any other social characteristic feature, gender may serve as an advantage or a disadvantage in various cultural, economic, social, and institutional contexts. The ways the mentioned factor of difference affects the lives of diverse individuals are far from being restricted to the list given above. However, here is a general overview of how gender affects individuals’ opportunities: Industries creates strongholds of professional old boy networks. Thus, being a man can grant easier access to various positions to which they are promoted by their friends. Apart from that, men in leadership are automatically granted authority; as a result, they are less challenged and tend to receive more respect. Women are given targeted help, such as scholarships, mentorship, and projects that take every effort to convince them to take positions in industries and spheres in which they are underrepresented. Moreover, the roles are less stiff all the time, and women may sometimes rely on the increased flexibility in balancing the professional and private aspects of life.
Bringing it down to a country like Nigeria I have never heard and I don't think the male counterpart will ever permit or vote in a woman as a president of our country, whereas in some African country I have heard of a woman being the president.
Being a woman come's with it's own advantage and disadvantage but despite all its disadvantage I will still be a woman in my next life😊
I have had favours I don't merit all because I am a woman, I have also been talked down on because I am a woman.
In the African culture especially Nigeria the female living all by herself or catering for herself is seen as a threat to her male counterpart most times, they have this mentality that a man won't want to marry such a one because he will either feel intimidated or so, not to talk of she owning a car or house, she's believed to scare prospective husband away from her. It is seen that a woman living with her parents or married out from her father's house is responsible and has good home training, but it's not the same with the former. Another case is having this mentality that a woman is supposed to be averagely rich so that she could be married. Most times I wonder if marriage is all that is to life, what a myopic mindset.
Personally I feel a man having such doubts about a woman doesn't have a healthy self esteem.
There are jobs that are considered weak for a man or should I say men aren't regarded or given such job or role and that is the job of a caregiver, but surprisingly I have seen me ln do perfectly in the caregiver aspect.
Women on the other hand aren't allowed to do strenuous work like in the oil rig, mechanical, electrical work etc.
I will conclude by saying that both genders are advantaged and disadvantaged, one just have to choose his or her own battles and deal with it.

Reducirlo a un país como Nigeria, nunca he oído y no creo que la contraparte masculina permita o vote a una mujer como presidenta de nuestro país, mientras que en algún país africano he oído hablar de una mujer como presidenta. . Ser mujer tiene sus propias ventajas y desventajas, pero a pesar de todas sus desventajas seguiré siendo mujer en mi próxima vida. He tenido favores, no los merezco porque soy mujer, también me han menospreciado porque Soy una mujer.
En la cultura africana, especialmente en Nigeria, la mujer que vive sola o se autoabastece es vista como una amenaza para su homólogo masculino la mayoría de las veces, tienen la mentalidad de que un hombre no querrá casarse con alguien así porque se sentirá intimidado. más o menos, sin hablar de que tiene un automóvil o una casa, se cree que ahuyenta a su futuro marido. Se ve que una mujer que vive con sus padres o está casada fuera de la casa paterna es responsable y tiene buena formación en el hogar, pero no ocurre lo mismo con la primera. Otro caso es tener esta mentalidad de que se supone que una mujer debe ser medianamente rica para poder casarse. La mayoría de las veces me pregunto si el matrimonio es lo único que hay en la vida, qué mentalidad tan miope. Personalmente creo que un hombre que tiene tales dudas sobre una mujer no tiene una autoestima sana. Hay trabajos que se consideran débiles para un hombre o debería decir que a los hombres no se les considera ni se les asigna ese trabajo o rol y ese es el trabajo de un cuidador, pero sorprendentemente me he visto hacerlo perfectamente en el aspecto de cuidador. Por otro lado, a las mujeres no se les permite realizar trabajos extenuantes como en la plataforma petrolera, trabajos mecánicos, eléctricos, etc.
Concluiré diciendo que ambos géneros tienen ventajas y desventajas, uno solo tiene que elegir sus propias batallas y enfrentarlas. con eso.

I don't think there is any job that we men cannot do, especially taking care of our ladies. And its true you said if a woman works provide more, it will be a treat. I don't see that as an bad thought. Men that thinks like that would have had experience or friend experience relating to it
Same here, I will chose to be a woman over and over again, they can say or think whatever they want, I will be very rich, buy the most expensive house and car and have a good business going, who needs a man with low self esteem, let the alpha kings come marry their fellow queen.
