What’s One Big Decision You Made Recently That Changed Your Life?
I like the real estate business. In fact, I have a clear goal: To buy an apartment and rent it out through a real estate agency. These agencies charge a commission which I'm willing to pay since it gives me peace of mind. These agencies inspect the property before the tenants move out, and I want to receive passive income.
About four months ago I bought my apartment. I had to work hard, but I managed it. It's located in a gated community, and we have to pay a security guard and follow established rules, but I prefer it that way. I don't mind having to pay the monthly fee. What I don't want to do is attend the meetings. I went to one and I didn't like it. Too many absurd conflicts. Problems can be solved simply by talking. I think some people just wanted to stand out, and I don't like that.
My life has changed, obviously. I don't have to pay rent anymore, something that strangely comes very quickly, hahaha. I save this money and use compound interest. Let me explain: I put some money in the bank, leaving it there each month along with the interest. I think of it as paying rent and keep saving this money, which makes the principal increase and the interest grows too. So I try to live well . The day will come when I can live more peacefully since I'll be receiving passive income.

I purposely bought a duplex type home more than 24 years ago. One part I can raise my kids in a stable home and the other I can rent out for Rental Income because it is impossible to afford without a working spouse.
I am now mortgage free, and afford to rent to another single mother who can't afford the current rental market prices.
I love passive income. You made a great financial decision.
I'm looking at another revenue property.
My Cash GICs pay only a pittance 1.8% interest so I put my emergency reserve cash into gold.

The far over priced Vancouver Condo market is crashing at this time. I'll be looking for deals. It's got farther to go as prices dropped from $800k CAD down to $700k CAD for a typical 2 bedroom unit. Lots of 2021 and 2022 owners are going underwater this year.
I try to accumulate money without denying myself anything , I buy what I want. The price of apartments has increased, but I continue to accumulate. Compound interest helps me.
