Today I want to join the contest organized by Ladies of Hive, a community dedicated to the empowerment of women, where I decide to answer one of the two questions that we are asked, because it is something that I have always thought a lot about and I identify with it:
Hoy quiero unirme al concurso organizado por Ladies of Hive, una comunidad dedicada al empoderamiento de las mujeres, donde decido responder una de las dos preguntas que se nos hacen, pues es algo en lo que he pensado mucho siempre y me identifico con ella:
If you were a genie with magical powers, what would you do and for whom? // Si fueras un genio con poderes mágicos, ¿qué harías y para quién?
I have thought about this many times, because at some point in our life we have always said that I would like to have the power to change this, because we feel so powerless and we realize that no matter how hard we do, we will not be able to change what we think that only by having magical powers we can change what happens. Some time ago I went with my coworker to the children's oncologist located in Barcelona, Anzoátegui state in my country, Venezuela, the youngest of her children has leukemia, it has been one of the few times that I have felt more helpless in my life, it is there where we realize what are the things that really matter in life and how small we are before illness.
Seeing so many innocent children with a life ahead of them suffering from this terrible disease, with their parents suffering the same pain as their children feeling powerless because we could not do anything to help them broke my soul into a thousand pieces, seeing them full of laughter and hope. Despite how much they suffered, it gave me a great life lesson, at this moment I thought God would like to have a magic wand and have the power to change this terrible situation, because no child should ever go through this terrible suffering and disease. I would like to have the power to avoid pain, suffering and that no child suffers from hunger in the world.
Esto lo he pensado muchas veces, pues siempre en algún momento de nuestra vida hemos dicho quisiera tener el poder para cambiar esto, pues nos sentimos tan impotentes y nos damos cuenta que por más esfuerzo que hagamos no podremos cambiarlo que pensamos que solo teniendo poderes mágicos podremos cambiar lo que sucede. Hace un tiempo atrás fui con mi compañera de trabajo al oncológico infantil ubicado en Barcelona estado Anzoátegui en mi país Venezuela, el menor de sus hijos tiene leucemia, ha sido una de las pocas veces que me he sentido más impotente en mi vida es allí donde nos damos cuenta de cuáles son las cosas que realmente importan en la vida y lo pequeños que somos antes las enfermedades.
Ver a tantos niños inocentes con una vida por delante sufriendo por esta terrible enfermedad, con sus padres sufriendo el mismo dolor que sus hijos sintiéndonos impotentes al no poder hacer nada para ayudarlos me rompió el alma en mil pedazos, verlos llenos de risas y esperanzas a pesar de lo mucho que padecían me dio una gran lección de vida, en este momento pensé dios quisiera tener una varita mágica y tener el poder para cambiar esta terrible situación, pues ningún niño debería nunca pasar por este terrible sufrimiento y enfermedad. Quisiera tener el poder de evitarle el dolor, el sufrimiento y que ningún niño padeciera de hambre en el mundo.
Well friends, this would be what I would do if I had magical powers and for whom I would do it, because I believe that no child in the world should suffer any suffering because their childhood is to remember it full of love and happiness. Bueno amigos esto sería lo que haría si tuviera poderes mágicos y para quien lo haría, pues creo que ningún niño en el mundo debería padecer ningún sufrimiento pues su niñez es para recordarla llena de amor y felicidad.
