Grocery Store Traditions & Friday Lunch

We did our weekly grocery store run yesterday and while we were driving back I started to think this tradition that we have created.

Very first thing we do is to check the Game store if there is anything we can make money with. Then to downstairs & groceries. We have certain route inside the supermarket starting with soft drink section and ending on frozen food isle. I did pick up pizza & some edamame beans this time. Then some chocolate for both of us & small coke for the 15 minutes ride back home.

I have been trying to be very careful when picking food, but somehow our grocery bill is outrageous everytime. Before there used to be great offers & lits of discount items, but now those two are totally gone.

125€ is just way too expensive for one week worth of food and especially considering that there is just two of us. And we don't even eat pork or beef. Chicken one a week and rest of the week canned fish. I did get fresh salmon for myself as I wanted to make Poke.

While I was eating I was counting the value of my lunch:

-Rice 30 cents
-Spices 20 cents (salt, rice vinegar & sesame oil)
-Salmon 2€
-half avocado 0.25€
-half Mango 0.50€
-chive 0.20€

Total 3.45€, same in restaurant/takeaway 10-12€.

So yeah, we are definitely feeling the increasing food prices and we will start venturing to other stores answell, but we will go definately to our super market as there are no gluten free items & asian cuisine stables on other stores.

We will have to be supermarket hunter gatherers if if want to reduce that bill.

Starting from next week ✌️

I can relate with this one! Budgeting is very difficult.

Yes, it's incredible difficult task!

It is crazy. Just today we did some shopping (for a few days) and it ended up being 160€ - other than some salmon, there was nothing special in there at all.

Yeah it's not okay for food to be so expensive! I feel like in Finland it's more excuses as it's not honestly that far away from everything.

It feels like in the last couple years, there has been a change in many costs here. They use the CPI for a range of goods, but what they probably do is increase prices of things that aren't tracked ;D

Yay! 🤗

Sometimes food can be expensive!
Gotta look for ways of making food the inexpensive way!
