Reselling in a way is like gambling. You buy stuff that you do not know if it is going to sell or not, and you just hope for the best. Right now it is very difficult to move anything. I have never seen anything like this.
I am based in Spain, my Vinted account is serving several different countries including France, Italy, Germany and various others as well. The likes come, but nothing moves. It is weird, because now should be the time of year when people are really looking to buy Christmas gifts and things like that. Historically these months have been the best time to sell, but it is not the case anymore.
People still scroll like it is Instagram. It is just that nothing moves.
On the other hand I just saw one TikToker say that the typical salary in Spain honestly is 15,000 euros a year before taxes, and if you earn 40,000 euros a year you are in the top 20 percent. That is absolutely nothing if we think about the cost of living crisis we are facing here in Spain because so many wealthy people are moving here and raising the prices. So with your meager 1,250 euros minus taxes, your life is tough. You do not have money left over to spend.
Right now my situation is that I am not buying anything more. I am just trying to get rid of my stock and hopefully it will pay my groceries, but this month it might not do that.
In a way it was always a gamble, so who can I blame other than myself.
But at least I had fun while I was gambling. And I have a home full of beautiful things waiting to be sold. I do not need to stress about finding more stock because I really do not need anything. I need to find the buyers. Maybe at some point they will just show up. But right now it is quiet.
But the hustle goes on. I still have plenty of stuff that I have not listed, so I keep gambling and hoping that something happens.
Business should be brisk before Christmas.
Retailing is tough now with most customers cutting back due to the cost of living we are hurting under. I would love to operate a Thrift shop selling quality used goods more for fun and not for profit in my retirement years but I'm currently too ill to do that even with sufficient capital. And I also found this kind of market very competitive and saturated already. I hope your customers find you @pauliinasoilu
