People want to make money for different reasons-fulfilling basic needs, living a better life, chasing dreams and so on. But I try to find happiness in a little different way. I love spending money buying gifts for the people close to me. And the happiness I get from gifting others is incomparable.
When I was a student, I loved spending money on stationery items. Even now, whenever I’m near an arts and crafts store, I can’t hold myself back! The same thing happens when I’m in a bookstore. A library feels like heaven to me!
Now that I don’t have enough time for crafting or reading, I spend my money on gifting these things to others who need them the most. Like my niece loves crafting. She is literally addicted to it! Her interest is in recycling household items and turning them into lovely home decor. Whenever she makes something, the first thing she does is send me photos or show them on video calls. Seeing her enthusiasm for drawing, I love to gift her with journaling and crafting supplies.
These last few weeks, she was busy with her year-end final exams. Now that her exams have finally ended, she is spending her whole day making various things. Here are some photos of her crafts.
I love the way she made these two flowers out of paper cups. She is using YouTube in such a positive way!
I specially loved this paper fan. We used to make this kind of fan in our childhood! How time flies!
During this holiday, I’m planning to buy some washi tape and journaling items for her. I don’t think she heard about quilling art, so I want to gift her some quilling papers.
This was a fun project. I was showing them how to draw plants.
On my last visit to my niece’s house, I took some washi tapes with me, and this is what she created!
I know there are some spelling mistakes, but since she is in class two and English is her second language, these mistakes are very normal. we let her write freely and don’t force her to correct everything immediately. When she’s done writing, we ask her to check whether the spelling is right or wrong, and she corrects them on her own. And I think that’s how language learning should work.
Nowadays, kids are too addicted to gadgets. It’s really hard to keep them away from TV and smartphones. So when I can keep her busy with art supplies, it truly feels like a blessing. She can nourish her creative side by making these handmade items. That’s why whenever I get the chance, I try to encourage her and give ideas on how she can improve her crafting skills.
