Hi Everyone,

The last 24hrs have been pretty stressful. BB E stayed home and didn't go to school on Monday as he was coughing non stop through Sunday night. Fortunately, at that point, we knew it was a minor asthma attack and gave him the puffer and can't hear any wheezing at all. We let him puff a few times every hour and it didn't help. At around 6pm, he started having a mild fever and stomach pains. By 7pm Monday night, Hubby could see him breathing very, chest up and down so we decided to take him into emergency. We have given him Panadol at that point for the fever and stomach pains which made him feel slightly better in those two areas.

When arriving at the emergency area and having all our details registered, hubby and BB E were waiting to be triaged. I didn't go with them as I still have BB M at home with me. As they waited for around 5-10 minutes, BB E vomited and he was triaged in immediately a nurse and doctor were already waiting inside. We didn't have an extra set of clothes packed so they gave him a hospital gown and checked him straight away as they could see his breathing was getting a bit heavy. Hubby updated me all the way and luckily the doctors said they suspected he had a viral infection and his body is just trying to fight it off and at the same time, set off his asthma.

BB E's asthma hasn't been so bad the last few years so this visit was definitely not forecasted as we have done everything correctly. The doctor said the frequency we gave him the puffer has made the situation milder than it would have been if we just left it. He didn't need any meds at this stage even though his oxygen level was slightly lower. They also quickly did a RAT test for him and it was negative (which we knew as we also did one at home the same day). By the 2nd hour, I decided to pack a new set of clothes for BB E and Hubby so they could change in fresh clothes and I take the soiled clothes home.

Luckily my parents were around my area so they were able to drop by and looked after BB E while I took some food and clothes to them. I was worried I couldn't go inside to see BB E due to COVID restrictions but I was allowed so I was relieved to see him reading his book when I arrived. BB M was super said not to see his brother home and cried for a while fearing he will stay at the hospital forever. Sigh try explaining to a 5-year-old about the situation, it was impossible. BB E came home around 1 am as his oxygen level was normal and didn't have too many issues with his breathing after the doctors gave him lots of puffs over the last few hours. We had BB E camp in our room so we can give him a puff every 3 hours (I had to wake up throughout the night) but by morning, BB M saw his brother at home and quickly ran over to give him the biggest hug, relieved to see his brother finally home.

I'm exhausted. Hubby was exhausted too but we are glad there wasn't a need for an overnight stay. As of now (24hrs later), BB E is so much better with a few minor coughs here and there. He can't wait to go back to school to see his friends, he was so bored at home Hubby took him out for a 2-hour walk today. Being a parent is not easy, when they are sick, you literally have to put everything down and look after them. Although I still need to wake up overnight to give him a puff tonight, it will be less frequent hopefully by tomorrow he will be fully recovered.

What a scare and the possibility not to be with your kid in the hospital is awful, thank goofed that wasnt it. I have two boys with astma, and i changed puffers, its kike the ones we always gave became resistent or something. Now we have a different one and that helps aswell. Not a doc here but thats what helped us.

Be well soon kiddo and mum you can relax now
Happy Tuesday

thanks for dropping by, going to the hospital is never fun and then having asthma which I can't help him was even harder. Hope you are well :)
