This platform is obviously getting a lot of eyeballs, but hardly anybody votes any posts.

I have set a default percentage. I don't upvote everything I read, but if I do, I try to make sure it's above the dust threshold.

Not necessarily. To assume any post is worth a vote, you first have to be paying attention. Most people are in the habit of scrolling until something gets their attention. Most people are not in the habit of assessing value for reward online, because that doesn't happen in Web 2. So, more than likely, very few think as they scroll by, "That's not worth a vote." More likely, the majority of posts never hit the majority's attention at all.
I think we mean the same thing, we're just using different words to say it.
Not quite ... one viewpoint assumes people are making a negative judgment of other peoples posts, and the other assumes that no judgment is being made because said posts are not even seen. Of course, posts being judged as garbage vs. being practically invisible in plain sight leads to the exact same result... but the paths to get there are different.
I don't think people are looking at the posts and then ignoring them because they're garbage, I think they aren't seeing them at all, like garbage in the street.
I don't assume that's a negative judgement, I'm just trying to figure why this platform's engagement looks so weird.

Don't worry about the wires, it makes it part of the uniqueness of your photos. The view of the mountain though, amazing. Is it always with a bit of snow or is it because of the storm? What's the name of the mountain? What's the name of your city? I really like it.
They're Mt. Cotacachi and Mt. Imbabura, in Ecuador. The town is called Cotacachi in the Province of Imbabura - the mountains are the name givers :-) I'll never like the wires. If they're everywhere, they're not unique :-D

In my opinion, “the sun unobscured at last” works. I’ve read too many books with that effect and it never gets old. I still get the same dramatic feeling and intensity because it almost feels like escaping into a desert.
For the reader, I'd think the infinite stars. If it were a movie, the sun would be more dramatic.
In film, you might see the predawn glow on the horizon, then the first ray of light throwing the protagonist(s) into stark silhouette as everything bursts into vibrant color around them after an hour of almost monochromatic gray.
